How many G37 clutches have gone bad with low mileage?
i was reading some other post concering this clutch/slave and master cylinder issue and members keep sayin there is a tsb for this issue, i looked in the tsb & recalls area and didn't find a tsb for it. does anyone know where one can find this tsb? please and thank you.
So this happened to me twice.
At around 12k miles:
First time, I took it to Infiniti of Pleasanton (Northern California) and they told me nothing was wrong. I was noticing that my clutch was feeling spongy and would go to the floor and was getting harder to engage/disengage. They told me nothing was wrong and gave me the "you have no idea what you're talking about" look.
It still felt wrong so I went to Beshoff Infiniti in San Jose, CA. They immediately knew what the issue was. They noticed my clutch fluid reservoir was VERY low. Dropped the tranny and discovered a leaking CSC. Replaced under warranty.
At around 19k miles:
Happened again. Didn't bother with Pleasanton Infiniti and went straight to Beshoff. On the drive to the dealership, I couldn't engage gear off the freeway. Somehow I got it in but couldn't get into the service bay. I somehow luckily got it into the dealership though.
They acknowledged the same issue and replaced it again. The clutch reservoir was BONE DRY.
What to take away from this:
If this happens one more time, I'll lemon law the car. Always carry around a bottle of brake fluid (DOT 3) in case of emergency so you can at least limp your car to the dealership.
If the dealership doesn't know what's wrong, try opening the clutch fluid reservoir and showing them the empty piece of plastic. CHECK THIS FIRST BEFORE SERVICING as I bet a bunch of dealerships just refill the reservoir without doing anything to get the car off the lot without having to warranty service it.

My G has 52k miles on it right now and the clutch died on Monday. By no means was it low mileage, but it still died nonetheless. It felt very soft and spongey and no gears would shift while it felt like the clutch wasn't even engaging.
I called Crossroads in Raleigh and the sent a loaner car out to me and towed mine back to the dealer because it was a good 2.5 hour drive away. Anywho, they didn't get a chance to look at it the past few days, but I'm going to give them a call in a little bit to check up on what's up.
Good thing I still have 26 days left on my warranty.

Service tech said the slave cylinder wasn't getting any hyd pressure into it which caused the clutch to not engage or do anything usefull. He's ordering a new master cylinder and hyd lines and installing them this weekend, which should fix the problem.
He also mentioned that my FI CBE was close to the hyd line which could have caused a slight melt causing the issue in the first place, but he'll check that out when he takes it all apart. Just something to note.

He said nothing about anything leaking except the a/c unit which is being replaced also, so maybe he "forgot" to mention it, but I have no reason to not take his word right now, he's hooked me up pretty well so far this maintenance visit.
My cluth went out couple months ago. My G only has 35k. Couple months prior, I took my car to get looked at when engaging th clutch was making weird noises. The dealer changed few parts but never checked the master cylinder. Two months later, Clutch gone belly up. Now I have a brand new clutch and the dealer replaced most everything. I am the second owner and the car had 16K when I bought it. Comes to find out the car had a clutch replaced at 3K. So, basically this G is on its 3rd clutch now.....

What happened to you at 19k miles happened to me today at 27k miles on my 08 G coupe. The car is still under the original warranty and was dropped off at the dealer today.
My ride is in the shop right now... lost the CSC and/or CMC on the way home from work last week. Typical deal... pedal to the floor! Since the dealer will most likely be pulling the trans, I took the oportunity to have them install a ACT disc and pressure plate along with the aasco aluminum flywheel....

You right, many ppl have said that its the slave cylinder. It did happened out of the blue I was parking went into reverse, car started stalling clutch got hard there was some griding noise and a bang, put the car in neutral turned off and on, pushed the clutch and it would not come back up. I called roadside assistance. Luckily the sun was still up here and I was near a tunnel. I will keep you guys updated, lets see how the dealer tries to rape me.
How Many Slave Cylinders have Been Replaced
By my count 16 members have had to have their slave cylinders replaced.
4 of us are on our 2nd
For a current total of 20 replaced Slave Cylinders.
there are 2 other possibles (maybe clutch slipping, which is not the slave)
and one member with an impending slave failure(possibly).
Add your name to the list:
RadMav: 1st time @ 18K, Taking it to the dealer in the morning for #2 (25k Miles) I had an '08 with 42k miles and no clutch issues.

I notice that when I don't use enough force, my gear wants to jump out of the gear I move it to. For example, when I shift from 2nd to 3rd, sometimes, it kinda slips and I need to use an adequate amount of force to shift it back to third. Is this considered clutch slipping? or me being lazy? I only have 22,600 miles. Let me know what you guys feel before having these issues for mentioned(the 20 current total of issues listed below)? thanks,

Your issue sounds like you are not pressing the clutch all the way down when you shift. The transmission will go from any gear to neutral without even using the clutch, with it partially depressed it comes out of gear easily. If the clutch is not depressed all the way it is like trying to shift with out using the clutch which can be done(not recommended), someone earlier in the thread mentioned truck drivers use this method. Without fully depressing the clutch the synchros have to get lined up in order to slip the transmission into the next gear up. If they are not the shift lever will pop back out which sounds like what is happening. Make sure you are close enough to press the clutch all the way to the floor. You can tell you are close enough, when you can put your feet flat on the floor under the pedals with a slight bend in your knee before you start driving. Then your seat is adjusted correctly. You shouldn't have to point your toes to push the pedal to the floor.
When the slave cylinder fails the clutch pedal will literally drop between 50% and all the way to the floor when you press on it. If it doesn't drop all the way to the floor the dealer will probably tell you it is fine when you take it in. Mine did that and I had to take it back three times, the last time it felt like nothing was connected to the pedal and you literally have to pull it up to get it off the floor.
