Transmission does not shift from Parking after ignition

Some times I am experiencing this strange problem. When I start my Car, Auto transmission doesnot shoft from Parking to Drive. Some time it shift very immediately. But some time I have wait little longer. But today it took almost 1 min minutes to shift it from PArking after I tried on-off many time, but after that it worked as normal.
One more issue is, few of the time i feel it is little hard to shift transmission from parking as well. otherwise is it is very smooth. Any clue...!

Are you holding the brake pedal as you shift it out of park?

I'm fairly sure you have to have your foot on the brake to shift out of park.
I do it without thinking about it and have never had a problem with my 2010.
What year is your G?

Don't believe so. Schedule an appointment with the dealer. Post back with the results.

Don't be in such a hurry to shift after you press the brake.

I pump my brake twice and on 2nd pump, I give it a firm press on brake. Most of the time it works. Dont like it, I just accept it for it is. Add this to the list of things that annoy you thread.

bring it back, there's probably an issue with the TCM. unless you like shifted without pressing the shift lock... then you broke something.

Just got my 2010 G today. I notice that I definitely need to push the brake down more firmly or I have the same issue. Noticed it as soon as I got in the car for inspection (probably was looking for it thanks to this and other threads).

Drove it home, parked, took some pics, stopped to eat - each time I hopped in I didn't even notice it. I think it might just be that these brakes need to be pushed down more firmly than on my 08. I guess we'll find out.

Just wanted to share my experience.

Jay

Or you could ask the dealer to keep the car overnight and try to duplicate the problem the next morning when the car is cold.

If you're leasing, then no big deal I suppose. Otherwise, I would expect you would want to fix this while under warranty. Good luck.
