Angry 6mt Tranny Issues??

Ok I know some of this has been posted before (so please don't flame me). All i want is some advice and input for what I am experiencing.

First off, today I noticed after ragging on my car a little bit I noticed a slight "whinning noise coming from the transmission. I was like great . I didn't skip gears or grind. Just some fast heavy shifting as well as downshifting, I always rev-match btw. I let it cool down a little bit then took her out again and it sounded ok for about 25 min, then it started again, but alot lighter than before. It sounds like a supercharger as I rev through the gears. I'm picky so i notice it, but it really isn't that loud...yet. Is this going to get worse?

Also I notice on this tranny that unless you have the rpm's just right for shifting and if you let off the clutch a little too fast the car seems to have a freakin spazm. It's the most unforgiving tranny I've ever driven, and I've driven my fair share. I have gotten use to it as I have 2500 miles on the car, but still I wish it was smoother. I am also noticing that when switching into my 3rd gear it is harder than the other 5. It's not grinding, more like I have to almost jam it in there, could this have something to do with the whinning.

My clutch chatter has also gotten louder little by little, is this normal? And one last thing, I notice when I turn off my car with the clutch pressed in it turns off alot smoother than with the clutch let out. Why is that? Now I always have it in when turning it off.

Thanks for any input guys, and sorry for the short book LoL, I just wanted to give you all the details.

Heres my post from my thread explaing to someone about how to hear it (this was how it was for my car atleast):

now the best way to hear it, is to do this:
put the car in neutral with the clutch out and start revving it slightly...you should hear a whining noise. Now with it still in neutral put the clutch in...the whining noise should go away.
You can actually put the clutch in and out in the middle of the rev while in neutral and you should be able to hear the whining coming and going as the clutch is either in or out.
and incase you wanna read through the rest of the thread heres the link...there might more usefull info in it for you: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...nds-fishy.html

Ok, so after driving about 15 mile today I havent heard it. Maybe my car was just mad at me for beating on it. Hopefully it doesn't come back.

The other question was about turning the car off. Is it better to turn the car off with the clutch in or out. I notice when it is in it turns off smoother. Also does having the clutch in wear it prematurely like for example sitting at a stoplight. Not that I do it, but I'd like to know exactly what it's doing. Thanks

Went over to the dealer today to get it checked out. I went for a ride with the lead mechanic and he said that that noise was normal. I mentioned to him also about when i turn off the car I always have the clutch pushed in because of the awful noise the input shaft makes and he said don't worry about it. "It's a characteristic of the car" he said, so he said it's better to have your foot off the clutch when turning off the car because the clutch will last longer.

Has anyone else heard a loud noise coming from the tranny when your in first gear, pretty low RPM's and you push in the clutch. Sounds like a washing machine breaking down ? I heard it the other day and forgot to mention it to the tech.

that clunking noise is supposedly normal... many people on here have noted it... it is a characteristic of the tranny... dunno why but when i first heard it i freaked out... as for the tranny, i've had mine replaced at 7500 miles, having broken synchros and broken cones... and i never drove crazy or anything. i still feel the same way about the new tranny, it just seems like infiniti transmissions are really notchy and i feel like i'm breaking my tranny when shifting into 3rd gear and sometimes the other gears

I'm with you there, they're definitely not the smoothest transmissions. But it's ok, I still love my car

Hopefully they don't give you a hard time. Is it just me or are quite a few people getting their transmissions replaced? For those of you that have, and those of you that might have to get it replaced do you guys ride your car hard. I rag on mine a little bit, but nothing out of this world. Infiniti/Nissan claim to build such a reliable product, yet they've transmission issues with the 6MT G's since the G35 .

My tranny has that clanking noise as well, I hear it most when I'm in drive thru's. No grinding so far though.
