Getting a new tranny...infiniti sounds fishy.

Ever since i read the "Whining like a supercharger" thread i noticed that my car had that noise also. And then i noticed some noise coming from the throw out bearing.

So last night i dropped off my car at infiniti (got an 08 g35x as a loaner).
Today the lady calls me at 3:22 and leaves me a message (at work couldn't pick up).

"they had a look at the coupe and they aren't able to verify any abnormal noise from the clutch or the transmisson. They did an inspection and everything is working properly and they went on a road test with the service manager. You can pick up the car any time before 8 tonight. If you prefer to come in and road test with the technician, there here till 4 o'clock today or tomorrow at 8 in the morning."

So i call her back at 3:33 and obviously i tell her that i will be in there 8 in the morning because i know something is wrong. I asked her again if they heard any whining or anything and she stated "no". So as of now im supposed to go there tomorrow morning at 8 to talk to the technician and go for a ride.

Now keep in mind that when i dropped of the car last night, i specifically told the lady "i hear whining coming from my transmission and some noise, which i think is from the throw out bearing"

Alright. So at 3:45...barely 10 min after i just hung up with her, when she told me they didn't hear nothing, she calls me back.

She goes "they let the car sit for a little and now they started to hear some whining. We'll be ordering you a new transmission and throw out bearing"

So first they tell me nothing is wrong...i bet if i didn't say that i was coming in tomorrow morning then they would have let me pick it up tonight with the car having a bad tranny. It was only 10 min max when she called me back...so in that 10 min it went from "nothing is wrong" to "ok. now they hear a whining and already they concluded that they are going to order me a new tranny and throw out bearing". Could be true...but sounds fishy to me. If someone else who didn't know much believed them the first time...then they prob would have picked it up with the problems still.

At least they didn't say anything about me having HFC or my Stillen Gen. 3's. And last night before i went i un-installed my Cobb AP.

Hope they don't take forever to do this....who else had there tranny replaced...how long did it take them?

It seems like ALOT of people are getting tranny problems. I hope when they replace it that it doesn't just start back up again.

How is your new tranny compared to the old one?

Mine is getting really loud too. Lots of chatter when it is idling out of gear.

I dont think it was fishy, I just think it was the dumb blonde receptionist who was ill-informed.

I honestly think I'm due for a new tranny too. My car shakes when I give it gas and let off in 6th gear when I'm going 60+ mph... The shifter shakes REALLY BAD sometimes too... I'm taking it in to Riverside Infiniti on Saturday...

i thought the shake was normal, when your car is idle in neutral, the shifter vibrates? that's supposed to be normal i think...
