SB dealer reset ECU software (firmware?) today from old part#23710-JK70C to new part#23710-JK86A (per TSB-48a?). free loaner for warranty issue ('08 G35 sedan). I drove away with no issues to report yet.

Hopefully this will also cure a knock that occured last week at idle after slowly coming down a mountain road (on way up, temp did reach 219F vs normal 183F at cruising). I wonder if VVEL ticking, which I have not noticed, TSB-28, is covered by this ECU reflash? I would think so, but did not have the free Ester oil change included, darn it. I would guess wildly that the knock is a VVEL control issue like the ticking, but only some wizards know for sure, it seems.

ITB07-048a (amended feb 21, '08): "2008 G37; INTERMITTENT/SHORT DURATION SMALL RPM INCREASE DURING BRAKING
The bulletin has been amended. This version has a link to the CONSULT-III ECM Reprogramming General Procedure, addition

APPLIED VEHICLE: 2008 G37 (CV36) with Automatic Transmission ONLY
APPLIED DATE: Built before December 6, 2007
APPLIED VIN: Built before JNKCV64E(*)8M 115669
IF YOU CONFIRM: The engine intermittently experiences a small RPM increase (less than 500 RPM) for a short duration during
braking."
