I have a little experience with detailing and can tell you from personal experience that it's next to impossible to clay this finish even with a fine grade clay and gentle pressure without inducing some fine scratches. I have a BO and have used different clays to experiment with this very issue. I never got the job done without putting at least some scratches in the finish. Maybe i'ts just me.
Aggressive bars, forget about it, bust out the DA or rotary.
Remember kids, friends don't let friends wash their cars with Dawn, because old man Zaino said it was ok.
Use a high concentration of a citrus wash 2.5oz:1 gal, and an IPA wipe down if need be.
Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Clear, or Wash & Gloss, both work well.

I've owned quite a few black cars myself... it all depends on the paint to be honest. I usually can get away without needing to polish using a fine grade bar (granted, that is if the surface is already at my expectation)

I use a sun gun to check my work... but do agree with you, Infiniti paint is incredibly soft.
