1. so does state taxes still apply to out of town buyers (canada) ?
2. was it one of those multi-stakable auto haulers ? or was it a tow-truck type flat bed that only fits one car ?

1. No tax will be applied to Canadians. You will pay your tax at the border.

As far as I know mine came on a double-decker open trailer, not unlike the ones that deliver shipments of new cars to a dealer.

If the car is driven on the roads of the state the you purchased it in (IE driving it back home vs having it shipped), there is a chnace that you will have to pay that state's tax. However, most dealers get around this by taking the car to the otherside of the nearest state border, selling the car there (out of state and therefore not on state roads) then you drive from there. This is one way to get around this.
