Thinking of buying a g37s coupe 08

I have been thinking about an is350 but they are rare then saw the following car

Cars for Sale: 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe in Oxnard, CA 93036: Coupe Details - 407445834 - Autotrader

Do you think it is worth it ? TBH I have made a lot of research on lexus's and it is a tiring process hence i dont know if I can spend another month to make research on g37's. I wanted a 7 speed but other than that I believe this one also comes with the newer engine "VHR" and seems like a clean vehicle.

Feedback much appreciated.

Go for it! I had a 08 coupe and it was an amazing car, faster than the Lexus and looks better in my opinion, you will get a lot of compliments, is it automatic or manual, I had a 6 speed and it was super fun! Now I have a 7speed and it's good as well just not as fun, the g37 is a very reliable car and if you decide to start modding can change many things and make it a beast such as suspension, exhaust, wheels and your set! Good luck and that car has low mileage for a good price!

All my previous vehicles were manuals but honestly although I still love manuals I no longer want to deal with it in traffic. This one is 5at.

I am considering it since it has kinda low miles and if it can be a reliable car for another 40K miles maybe I will be very happy with it.

I also realized that you can find some really low miles 2010 + models for around 22-23K is the difference between 5at and 7at much ?

I have never driven a G37 with the 7 speed, but I like the one in my wifes 370 alot better than the 5 speed in my 08 G37. It will bark the tires on the 1-2, and 2-3 shifts, the 1-2 shift sucks in my G.

perhaps go for a younger model to avoid the dreaded rear timing gasket issue...
and if you want to mod.. avoid the 08 ecu limitation to run ecutek..

That is a clean looking car. Not sure on what the prices translate between US and Can, but I bought mine a week and half ago and no regrets. If you need to carry peeps around the though back seat head room is very limited but that is my only criticism.

What are you waiting for? Jump on that bad boy, it looks clean. I have owned 3 g's and have nothing but great things to say about them. For the money the offer the biggest bang. You will never regret it I assure you.

My only problem is the 5at but honestly finding a clean vehicle is hard. I am not thinking about modding it since it already has "s" but I would like to use it for at least 3 years.

Well I got it. payed close to 18K out the door(still cant believe I spent that much).

The 5at is inefficient(on highway this thing needs a 7th gear) but the vehicle is fully loaded (I believe it has every option). The pain on the roof is fading bad, and chips front side annoying.

The interior is in "excellent condition". It is literally very close to brand new I am surprised.

Thats it for now. I hope I dont regret this.

I guess an "official" welcome to the site is in order. Congrats on your new purchase, hope it meets or exceeds your expectations.
FWIW our previous 07 G35 5AT got about 10% worse mpg, but still not horrendous (at least on the highway) still got about 26 mpg compared to our 28-29 now on the hwy w/ our 09 7AT. And gas is still about the same price, maybe better, lol.

Thanks. I am living through somewhat buyers regret today though.

The tranny is not that smooth, is350 felt faster(and probably is but not too much it just felt smoother) and seemed to get better mpg.

I took a 60 mile trip mostly highyway some heavy traffic. The round trip I got 26mpg. I don't think it is bad.

The idle is a little high when I first start the car then stabilizes around 700. I have so called 3 months drivetrain warranty on this, if the problem persists I will try to get them fix it.

The roof paint has to be fixed. its kinda white on front. The thickness is lower than the back. I don't think it was painted more like it was cleaned a lot.

Now the positives. It drives like it is on rails. No noticable body roll. Front is quite roomy. And overall it looks good.

I don't know maybe I think I will get used to it. The best thing is other than the issues above it feels like a new car.

Might look into getting the ATF changed out, hopefully that will help w/ the shifts. Buying a used car can be stressful, especially not knowing how it was driven & cared for. Hopefully w/ time you'll be feeling great about the car. FWIW the IS350 is within a 10th of a second 0-60 so it's just about a coin flip.

The performance difference between g37 and is350 is very slight so that is really not bothering me. I guess Ill get used to the tranny too.

Yes it is hard to find a good used vehicle and as I drive this thing I am feeling the original owner took good care of it, no mods only too much washing and the paint got thinner.

My real favourite is actually 335i and the new 435i coupes but the used ones for BMW are toxic, turbocharged + not knowing how it was treated(good chance they are redlined) is a recipie for disaster if you don't have the cpo warranty and those vehicles are usually close to 30K+ anyways.

Unfortunately although is's tranny was better both fall short of the zf-8 trannys used in Bmw's, How I wish I had that transmission on this vehicle.

On the good side is350 (the old gen , current gen seems nice) always reminds me of a toyota corolla but the g37 coupe looks really nice.
