I would absolutely love to have this setup!! Would you mind sharing where you picked up the charger? Also the wire(s) that you tapped into for power? I'd really like to do this as well if it's not too difficult!
I have finally given my G its much-needed eye transplant!
The previous owner had the housings painted a matte silver, with the turn signal and fog light reflectors painted black. I wasn't a fan of the look, to say the least, but the cost of replacement headlights made me want to wait until I needed them.
Well, the driver's side ballast started taking a crap on me the other day. This is the same side that gets rather large amounts of condensation inside of it due to not being put back together correctly. I could hear a crackling sound when turning the headlights on and off.
So I decided rather than just replacing the ballast (which may fail again prematurely due to moisture ingress) I would just replace the headlights entirely. I got a set of Depo's in the 2011+ design from eBay delivered today. With hopes of a slow day with the Life squad (as opposed the previous day) I set out to install them.
I got my Uprev base tune emailed to me today. I flashed it onto my ECU, then went for a little drive. It seems like it has more oomph, but it's hard to tell right now. The weather today is about 40 degrees and rainy, so first and second gear were nothing but a spin fest if I gave it more than a little throttle.
I think I'm going to try and get the Navtool box installed today. Since Navtool themselves didn't supply one, I made a wiring diagram of the setup.
*Diagram removed due to being incorrect. See corrected diagram in post #112.*
I need to run to the store and grab some more wire to run everything, but I'll give an update once I've got it done. I'll probably do a DIY on it as well if there isn't one already on the forums.

Reason: Removed incorrect diagram
I gave up on the Navtool for today. I got everything all wired up and ready to go just to find out that the damn thing isn't working. I'm not sure what the issue is, the only thing I can get from the box is a blinking green LED that's inside the enclosure.
After a couple of emails with the company, it was discovered that the instructions for the NavTool were wrong. They stated that the mode switch should be connected to chassis ground. Instead, it is supposed to be connected to a 12VDC switched source. After a quick snip and solder, I was good to go!
Here's the revised wiring diagram:
I'll be putting together the DIY in the next couple of days. But first: Pictures!
After getting off of work today, I decided to swap out the stock parking lights with some LED's I had sitting around. Since I have the R2C intakes, I didn't have to remove anything to install them. The Passenger side was a bit of a pain, though. Here's some before and after pictures:
[QUOTE=Arxylis;3986709]Being the electronics and gadgets nerd that I am, I decided to hook up an Android "mini PC stick" in the G.
It's just stuffed in the center console for the time being, but I'll be coming up with a more elegant solution in the future.
I've got it running into an HDMI to RCA converter and piped into the Aux input. The resolution of the screen on my 2008 is pretty hideous, and even with the text size maxed out it isn't very readable. I'm testing out a more car friendly launcher app as a possible work around. Any suggestions here would be helpful.
Not sure if someone has offered this suggestion to you but I think people have installed a Nexus 7 in the G for a better screen. Here's a link one some guys on youtube.

I like that setup, but I want to still have the stock information displayed (radio, climate control, etc.). I seem to recall someone getting that to work by feeding the display information through USB to the tablet and running an app to display it.
The only issue is that the display information on the older cars (2008-2010 I believe) is analog from what I have gathered, which makes it more trouble than I wanted to deal with.
Here's another quick update on the Visconti Tuning saga. The following are from the dispute page on Paypal:
Seller: HelloWe currently do not have any emails from (my email address withheld) or any pending RMAs to process through returns@vtune.us
REALLY??!!? Are you sure about that??
Because this says otherwise:
He goes on to say: Customer states the product they have purchased from us is "Item not as described" They believe it does not support the type of vehicle they own - 2008 G37.I have explained both in an email and this PayPal claim that their car is 100% supported. The item is as described and I can provide further documentation which will prove this without a reasonable doubt.
That's funny because the screenshot that he sent me showing the supported ECU's did not have my ECU version (JK71E) listed anywhere on it!
This guy is really becoming a thorn in my side. The company obviously lacks basic f*****g customer service skills and they're doing all they can to weasel their way out of not having to accept a simple return.
Immediately after posting those two responses he escalated the claim to Paypal so I wouldn't have any chance to respond. I've taken screenshots from several different forums, one of which contains a reply from ECUTEK themselves stating that it isn't compatible, also including the post that John Visconti himself made saying that a 2009 ECU has to be used to get it to work.
I'm not sure what kind of BS game Visconti trying to play, but if he doesn't get his s**t together real soon I'll personally make sure that every potential customer of his that is on a forum will know in big bright flashing letters just what kind of company they are dealing with.
ouch really sorry to hear about your ****ty experience.
visconti has always been an ahole and a cheat. His tunes are total c*ap as well. Some online research will show how cars have even burnt up after his useless tunes.
Since you have a lot of evidence, i really hope you get all your money back.
Appreciate the updates, normally when people get scammed or have something negative to say about a company they remain quiet. Speaking out helps the community as a whole and i wish more people did it.
