Nice updates, and have fun on that Ninja, just be careful out there! Noticed your G now has 90k miles less on it now, I guess you have to find a motor w/ 16k miles just so you can sleep at night lol.

Thanks!

I actually found a motor with 5k miles on it. I'm Just hoping it's still available by the time I get a shop lined up to do the work. There's not many options near me in the boonies where I live. Many local shops refuse to work on anything that isn't 'Merican, lol.

Yeah, I considered hanging it on the wall, but I'm sure the wife wouldn't have appreciated it much... haha

Update time!!

So, I'm usually a DIY guy. But since I don't have a lift or engine hoist at my disposal, and since the engine carries a warranty if installed by an actual shop, I decided to take it to a local place that came highly recommended to me. They've been a great group to work with and have been giving me updates along the way. I also got a discount for being a Vet, so that was pretty cool of them too.

Here's some pics:

And here's the new heart that will be beating under the hood! Came from a 2014 Q60 with only 5600 miles on it.

I'm kind of surprised that for $2500 shipped they included the harness and everything.

I almost forgot! I also got a Transgo shift kit that the shop will be installing as well. I even forgot to take a picture of it, so here's the screencap from eBay, lol.

Nice updates! That Transgo 5AT kit gets great reviews, looking forward to seeing this come back together.

As am I. Between the exhaust, ported intake, shift kit, and a practically brand new engine it's gonna feel like a different car! I'm hoping that they will have it back together by then end of this week or early next week, barring any unforeseen issues.

After I get it back from the shop I'm going to do a bit more work on the interior. I got some dark Grey brushed metallic vinyl wrap that I'm going to be putting on over the Washi trim. I like Carbon Fiber, but everybody does it, and I wanted to maintain the look of metal in those areas to provide a contrast with the plastics.

I haven't done any vinyl wrapping before, so my hope is that YouTube instructional videos will be enough to get me going, lol.

Here's a trim thread I did awhile back, got a couple links in the first post that help too. https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...m-project.html

Dang that is a whole lot going on for your car! I did the Transgo shift kit review and I'll tell it's the best mod for the 5at.

Best advice will be to take your time, and thoroughly clean the entire piece [front and back] with a mixture of filtered water, and Isopropyl Alcohol at a 3:1 ratio respectively using 90%. Heat gun will help, however try and get as much as you can without stretching.

Last of all, good luck and keep up the build! That exhaust is gorgeous.

Well. I got a bit of bad news this morning from the shop. It seems that while they were getting all of the electronics buttoned up they found that the main harness from the 2014 engine is not compatible with my 2008 car. For whatever incomprehensible reason, Infiniti chose to change the harness rather significantly at some point though the years.

The shop now has to remove the new engine that they just finished putting in, remove the harness, swap in the old harness from my original engine, then put it all back together. So now instead of picking my car up on Monday, it will probably be another 2 weeks before it is ready; not to mention additional labor time to do all of this. I'll be stopping by the shop on Monday to take a look and get more info.

Ugh...

Wow, sonofabitch! Sorry to hear that, hopefully the shop is working with you on the labor to R&R all of that. G/L
