How to tell if 18" wheels fit on IPLs

I've searched around the forums and haven't found a clear cut answer on how to tell what 18" (18x8) wheels will fit on an IPL, or really over the Akebono brakes. Is it a certain offset?

(please be gentle)

Whether they clear the akebonos has more to do with the spoke design than the offset. If you go over to tirerack.com you can enter G37s and it will filter out wheels that clear the Brakes. Are you looking for winter wheels or track wheels? I believe there are a few 18" Enkei models that will clear the brakes.

But if I choose G37 sport coupe, it looks for 19"s. If I choose a G37 base model, the model chosen won't have Akebono brakes thus not filtering on wheels that clear the brakes.

Summary: I can't choose a G37 model that has 18"s and Akebono brakes standard. Akebono brakes = 19"s on G37 (right?)

Edit: Looking for winter wheels

Here's tireracks filter using a 2012 G37X Coupe w/ sport pkg. which has the Akebonos, and here's a good selection of 18s

ahh there we go - use an X Sport model, then you can choose 18" wheels from the selection. Also, I can confirm that choosing XS model 18" gives a different selection than choosing X model 18" wheels, due to the brakes.

Thanks man!

No Prob
These 18 Enkeis aren't bad, clear the brakes and are light and reasonably priced~

There is no 100% way. You have to buy and try or find someone that's done it.

Rpf1's for example don't just add material to the hub face to change offset. The entire spoke design is changed and the spokes get longer or shorter based on the offset. This is why if you look at them in a 18x9.5 in a 45 offset its only 17.4lbs but a 15 offset is 18.2lbs. The spokes are longer moving the hub face further into the wheel adding weight. That changes the design to fit a caliper. The +45 wheel has more of a flat spoke vs more diagonal inward of the +15. Since the +45 is a flat face you only need a 15mm spacer to clear for a total of +30 offset.

Personal I'd find a wheel you like and check here and google and 370z forum to see if someone's done it.
