winter rims and tires for the IPL

Hello all. Yes, it is August 2nd and I am thinking about the winter already- when you live in Canada it never seems to leave your mind. Trying to wrap my head around what people with the IPL who live in snowy regions are doing as far as rims and tires go for the winter months. I had a beater last year but with my motorcycle as well it was all just taking up too much room.

I have been looking around and there seem to be a few options when it comes to clearing the sport brakes. I think I read that the g35 18s fit like a glove. That would be ideal since there are tons of stock wheels around for cheap. Any other thoughts or options? I don't want anything really expensive... there is just no point.

The base Z 18" wheels will clear your brakes, here's some in the classifieds right now and might check the Z forums for more. These are sold but just to get an idea

Good to know that model fits as well. I will see if I can track down a pair of those locally as well. Not sure they will be too hard to find. I am assuming it is the 350 and 370 that will work as long as they are 18s?

I'm in Canada as well and have a G37S coupe I drive year round. I bought winter rims and tires from tirerack.com. If you input your vehicle it shows you only rims that are guaranteed to fit your car. I came home from work one day and they were sitting on my driveway ready to be bolted on. Even with the shipping and brokerage charges, I STILL saved money over what the local tire dealers wanted for winter tires with STEELIES instead of the aluminum rims I got!

Thanks. I saw a few people saying that tire rack was a good spot to look. I will take a look on there and see what comes up.

Might also send a PM to this member, looks like he's got some 18x8s he's looking to get rid of

I think I found a solution - the 2006 19 inch g35 coupe wheel. That will give me lots of room for the brakes and the offset is pretty close to that of the ipl. The wheels also seem to have good rubber. So as long as I don't get bailed on, I should be good to go.

Plus they're forged & lightweight, and not bad looking either

That's exactly it. As long as the guy comes through and there is nothing really wrong with them, it should be a great solution. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out.

Did you get the wheels? Just curious what they look like and what snow's you plan to run. I am also in Canada and just bought a 2011 IPL.

Thanks

Carl
