CUSCO strut questions

Si I bought the CUSCO strut bar and installed it tonight.

I have a couple of questions I couldn't find the answers to:

1) I tightened the nuts on the brace as hard as I could to the strut, is that how it should be
2) I Also tightened the strut bar as much as I could to the braces, is that how it should be or should there be some play in it?
3) & finally, how much does it rub into the heat shield? will it cut into? Is it really worth it? I haven't driven it yet, since its raining.

Thank you for any help you can give

I don't, but it's up there on my mod list so I will need to know too. I was just going to tighten them like you did and make sure not to strip anything.

lol these questions would have been good before installing. torque specs are located in the FSM, but I want to say 50-60 ft lbs.

LOL, ya, I should have asked first, but it's on of my first mods for the handling and in general, so I saw the box when I got home, ripped it open and installed it. I may have tightened them so much I bent the braces a little...dammit.

What is FSM? Something service manual? Cause I did get the ft lbs for the struts, but now was wondering how tight to tighten the bar to the braces? I figured just as tight as I could without stripping it. A coworker here has a Subaru WRX that is completely modded and he said that's how he did his, as tight as he could

Not the strut brace brackets to the strut, but after you remove the bar to install the brackets on the strut, you need to re-install the bar to the brackets on the strut. How tight do I tighten the actual bar to the brace? Does that make sense? I haven't looked at the FSM, but I will now.

Thank you

You don't need that shield under the hood. I took mine off after 25 miles and it's fine. It's more for sound then heat.

ya, I brought my car in to work to get all my fluids changed (Coolant, Brake, Clutch, Differential, Transmission, Power steering and Engine Oil), $552 later...I asked my techs about the shield and they said I'm good. Same thing, it's not really there to protect the paint like I thought
