Help!

I was trying to take off the bar by undoing the two bolts for some throttle body cleaning. Passenger side nut/bolt would not come loose easily so I used a pipe on a hex key to get it loose. Now it seems the nut is stripped It will not come off the when I try to loosen it, nor it will tighten up. The nut is just spinning on the end of the bolt. What do i do?

Problem solved with a small hacksaw

Just to note to this. The Torque specs for the 3 tower bolts on each side are 37 not 27. Actually 37.5 . This is in the FSM.

not sure about the 27 or 37.....il be going to a friends this weekend to check the torque haha

just an quick first impressions of the GTSpec:

if you live in an area where there are straight roads everywhere, dont bother lol

but i live on the Sea To Sky Highway between Vancouver and Whistler, BC. quite a windy highway

i drive this highway every day, and i know it like the back of my hand. i know exactly how my car handles on every corner of this highway.

the front end feels much more planted now. easy 10-15+km/h increase around corners no problem. the car stays much more flat. i cant wait for my sways haha

definitely recommended it if you live in a windy area. i will be testing it at the AutoX this weekend

oh yeah and regarding the necessary tools:

the 6 supplied bolts are no longer 3/4, they are 11/16 or maybe even slightly smaller. they may have gone metric.

the allen key / hex i used was an 8mm, not a 5/16

thanks for the DIY!

Yes That is right!!! I'm wrong. Well somewhat.. the number to the left is newton metre if correct... the far one to right is ft.lb what we use.

So Lets say mine is on there good lol!

Thanks for the DIY.

I used this to install my FSB, and I love it. Like the others have said, feels more planted, and just sharper when making turns.

I didn't actually torque it to the correct specs because I don't have a torque wrench. I tightened it to the point where I couldn't untighten it by just using my hands and figured that was fine. I did ensure that I didn't tighten or overtighten, and it seems to be fine.

As for the spacing, 2 credit cards still allowed my bar to touch (dont know if it was going to scratch), so I put some of the plastic it came wrapped in under the bar in that area so it wouldn't damage my engine cover. Don't worry, I dont think that plastic will melt or anything, it seemed pretty tough.

All in all, a good mod.

I'm on the same boat!

I don't have any hardware and I was told by the previous owner to use my OEM bolts?!?

Has anyone installed the strut bar with OEM bolts?

Thanks!

So I was trying to install my strut bar today. However I accidentally rounded one of the bolts on the driver side strut tower. I can't get it off now.

Does any body have some advice? it would be very helpful

After my install I checked it after about a month and it is rubbing the hood liner. I installed it using this method but the credit cards weren't necessary. The bar was more than high enough even on the lowest setting point.

Any suggestions?

I just tried to install the strut bar, but as soon as I put the aftermarket nuts to secure the brace it stripped. Not sure if I need different screws that are longer or should just go ahead and get a koni set and call it a day. Has anyone else run into this issue?
