LOL.. It's definitely a baller set up... some of it is second hand (nothing wrong with that though )

The ARC strut brace alone was $800 used ( $1200 or so new) ... so justifying spending $200 on GTspec was an easy decision for me.

So what's the consensus? Should I raise the car and then instal my bar? I want my 180$ that I spent to be worth it.

I agree.. GTspec is aluminum and I believe the Cusco is also aluminum.

My buddy is rocking an titanium ARC strut brace on his Evo.. I wonder if that has more added benefit? Its also mounted in 3 point instead of 2 like on our cars.

Of course but I was just worried that if I drive at the track for a long period of time that hood might get all scratched up. Don't want that.

The FSB does not make contact with the hood of the car, it only rubs on the noise insulation that is attached to the hood. I personally removed the insulation so that I would have no such rubbing.

And before anyone says anything, I had no effect on my paint from engine heat and I rocked it that way for over 1 yr & live in SoCal.

Cool. Still kinda debating if I should get it.

By any chance do you have a pic of hood under the car?

Not really sure what this means? Are you asking for a picture of my engine bay?

Keep in mind I sanded off the chrome finish on my GTspec FSB to give it a brushed look.

Nice I like it. So there is no mark on your hood or anything?

It seems people are under the misconception that this rubs on the hood of the car...

That is NOT true, so I want to clear that up... if you pop your hood and look on the underside of the hood you will see a 1/2 layer of foam padding that is used for heat and noise insulation.

The only thing the FSB rubs on is the padding, not the hood and will cause no damage to your hood or your car (if installed correctly). I removed the padding from my hood by popping out the 10 or so pins that hold it in place to avoid rubbing. The FSB did not even come close to touching or damaging my hood.

I like the brushed look actually !
Similar to the older 350Z oem bars. (sigh, brings back memories...)

We've sold MANY cusco braces and have not had any real fitment issues, only the occasional very slight insulation rubbing, but nothing more.

The cusco bars are really pretty light for what they are as well

I'm so torn now.
EVERY brace can flex slightly, that doesn't mean it's not working.
If you went with stiff rigid steel, you'd be adding tons of weight to the car effectively slowing you down more than anything.

Even a lot of dedicated track cars use high strength and well designed aluminum bracing and suspension arms so for a street car these are even more ideal.

PLUS, adding a bar to a car that doesn't have one will make a big difference unless there is other chassis strengthening in the bulkhead (and on most modern cars short of super cars, they are constructed weak). The G's front end unibody flexes a lot, anything you can do to brace it works hands down.

Tony, care to elaborate on the proper installation procedure of the strut braces?

Should they be installed with the tires on the ground or elevated?

I just saw this thread.. I had forgotten I wanted one lol. The one I am interested in is called by a company called circuit sports I think. Im no engineer, but that design looks better to me since the ends are solid and dont bent. To me the gtspec and everything else I've seen looks like it will allow the chasi to flex.... Im not sure how to explain it but I have it in my head lol

you have to install the bar with the car on the ground, if you remove the upper strut nuts while the car is elevated the strut will drop out. Every install I've ever done or seen has been a very straight forward , easy install....
