Help A weird locks/lights problem
Hi all, I've been lurking around long enough, this is my first post.
Mandatory preface: I promise, I did my due diligence and searched everything I could, so, If this has been solved before, I couldn't find it. I'll do my best to keep it succinct, while including any info about any mods/hack jobs/shenanigans that could pertain.
The car is a 2013 X sedan, 3.7. The issue is that the door locks become unresponsive to any input (exterior door button or remote) if the headlights are on - including the delay lights. So, if I get out of the car when it's dark out, i have to either wait for my delay lights to go off, or manually cycle the light switch to off and back to auto before I can lock the thing. Trunk, too, only opens with the dash button while the delay lights are on.
Possible causes - I can think of a couple, but neither fits the timeline. One being the possible bcm flooding due to the sunroof drain getting clogged on the passenger side, but that happened 2 years ago, I'm guessing that I'd have issues sooner. The other one could possibly be related to adding the remote starter, but I've installed these things in the past, besides, these Fortin units come with super straight forward instructions.
I just thought of 2 more things - I've added a little head-up display thingy, some generic Amazon kind, and it's the OBD-type. Also, I've wired in some halos, 6 in all, 4 switchbacks inside the headlamps and 2 regular white ones in the foglamps. The amber is running from the turn signal wires, and the white is wired through a separate switch and a 10-amp 'add-a-fuse' pigtail to the driver's footwell. Could any of this be messing with the door locks? Excessive amp draw seen by bcm, or something like that?
That's it. I'm out of ideas. The only other interior mods are inconsequential, like led dome bulbs or shifter reversal, both of which I did almost 2 years ago.
Thank you, kind folks, in advance for any ideas! And thank you for this wonderful resource that you have going!
