in canada we need daytime running lights. On my 2011 G37, the full lighting system is on at all times. Full headlights, parking lights, rear tail lights. it dosent matter where you set the lighting on the control arm by the steering wheel.
is this how Infiniti setups the daytime running lights (all lights on, all the time)?
my G35 was not like this.
This interior lights switch from day to night mode as normal. so it seems as if they want the sytem to be like this. i dont see why the full headlights and tail lights should be on at all times...
anyone else with DRL let me know how their car is..
A proper installation does not have all those other lights turned on, only the DRL itself. I’m sure all OEM DRL in Canada are that way too. My wife’s Lexus has DRL and only the front lights turn on during the day. Furthermore, IMO having your tail lights on all the time during the day could be a safety issue if someone behind you does not distinguish them from brake lights.

That doesn't sound right. All the 2010+ G's I've seen (plus driven as loaners) just have the headlights on as DRLs. The tail lights are not on.
DRL FAIL! Sounds to me that that your dealership did that wrong. If correct going into Canada they have to be modded at dealership. There are some other Canadians here that can chime in.
I just purchased a 2010 G37 and thought something must have been wrong with the lights until I read this post. All the running lights are on all the time and that is somehow a decision they made for 2010 and up? I don't even want to use my headlights for the DRL but I really do not want all the front and rear running lights on. I looked at the Factory Service Manual available online and they show the DRL relay controlling the parking, tail, license and side marker lights and that is what I found. If I remove the relay it still has the headlights on (low power I believe) but all the other lights are off. The problem is the other lights no longer work at all even with the light switch on. So how is it done in the US? What are they doing different from what I see in the FSM?
what abt 08 daytime running lights? i'm abt to DIY ironman/headlight mods to mine, but i dont know much abt the electrical part. Or can i tap to the ignition?
imported a 2010 g37 coupe last year. local Infiniti dealer in Canada performed DRL mod before registering car. only fog/driving lights work as DRL's, not headlights/taillights. no problems so far.
Not a Canadian but I just purchased a 2013 coupe and my one complaint was that it didn't have day time running lights. I have xs with nav and found it odd that a newer car didn't have this feature. Is there a switch somewhere that I am not aware of?
I hope I can change having all the lights on at all times and the fact that the US cars do not work like that means it can be done. It is strange that the Service Manual online has the DRL listed and the wiring shown is the way it works in Canada.

Hi
My g37x same issue…. i am keep asking same issue before why my headlight ,taillights and plate no# light is on daylight i try find botton or any option but i cant find.
I do not know why this is so confusing to folks, but here we are, again.
Pre-2010 models had the FOG lights integrated into the headlamp housing. The DRL system uses the FOG lamp:
With the 2010 "facelift," the FOG lamps were moved to the lower front bumper. Therefore, the DRL system uses the main HID headlights:
YES, Infiniti/ Nissan did change the setup so that ALL of the rear lamps are ON practically all of the time. Why? Who knows. It is probably some rule that governments who mandate this DRL crap require. Maybe it is so that the jackass drivers who are always on their phones don't rear-end anyone. OR, maybe it is so that people who forget to turn their lights ON at dusk can still be visible to other drivers.
Either way, that is how the DRL system was designed and intended to operate. There is no "button" to turn it OFF and going back to the "old system" would require some wiring modifications which, looking at the diagram, is not worth the headache. Sometimes it is best to leave well enough alone.
