do your dome lights come on when door is opened?

Can someone please look in their 08 or 09 g37s coupe to see if when the door is opened the dome lights near the sunroof button come on? I thought they did. They do come on if I press them as a reading light. I just got mine back from the dealer for having the check engine light on. Its probably unrelated, but they had to replace the B1 VEL actuator motor assembly.

RTFM....

There's a switch that you have to flip to get them to turn on when the door opens by the lights.

There is a switch by the sunroof button that you can switch to on,off and automatic. make sure the button is set level and not pushed in to one side

It's kind of hard to miss the giant switch between the two lights that toggles them from on, to off, to door. If they are switched to a position to where they should be on and they aren't press each one to insure it's in the on switched position.

My sentiments exactly. But not his fault, his last horse and carriage didn't have that $2K option...

petes, I know it seems like people are being d!cks for no reason but you have to understand how these forums work. This a community of enthusiasts that enjoys sharing knowledge and discussing both car and non car related things, but everything has its place. That's why there are sub forums and specific threads.
You see, the problem is that forums quickly become inundated with "stuff" and they tend to become difficult to navigate.

This brings us to your question, which is the most basic of questions that could have easily been answered by opening your owner's manual rather than posting a new thread. This is why you have gotten so many negative responses to your question.

No hard feelings.
