Dome Lights Won’t Turn Off

Hello Guys. I need some help here. My interior dome light won’t shut off. Yes I tired pushing the lights in. This is a fairly new, started last week. I’ll open my door, the lights will come on as they are supposed to and will stay on until I shut the car off and the kill switch takes over. Any ideas on what the cause is and how to fix it?

No messages on my dash. Dash looks as it always has. Didn’t know there was an override switch. Where would I find this? My car is a 2012 g37x coupe.

For real?

ON- LIGHTS STAY ON
OFF- LIGHTS STAY OFF
DOOR- LIGHTS GO ON/OFF WHEN DOOR OPENS/CLOSES. Typically the lights will fade to off after a few seconds after closing the door.

My bad. Lol never heard that called the override switch. Currently I have it set to off cause the lights won’t turn of if it’s in the middle (door). Prior to last week my lights would fade to off while the car was on. Now it just stays on all the time whether the cars on or off. When off it will turn off after about 30 min.

I’d say that switch might be broken then. My lights turn off after ~30 mins if I leave one on by mistake. Seems like the switch itself may be stuck to ON internally

Any idea if that piece will pop out? Curious to take a look inside but never took that apart before.

I haven’t taken it apart before but the FSM would likely tell you. I think it was section INT, not positive tho

All good. Didn't mean to sound so harsh. After 30min. the car goes dormant and any lights left on will turn off.

If the windows move up/down that 1" when you open/close the doors then you can rule out the door switch(es). As Conboss said, more than likely that ON-DOOR-OFF switch is bad. If you are handy you could try removing the panel and check the switch contacts?

The windows do move up and down that 1” when I open/close. I was having issues with the locking mechanism but replaced both mechanisms today, I was hoping this would solve the issue. So I don’t think it’s the switches. Not to mention the locking mechanisms issue was going on for months, this light issue only started last week.

I’ll have to see if I can get that light opened tomorrow to see what’s going on in there. Although I’m not sure if it’s that switch either because when switched to off all lights turn off.

I’d still think that the AUTO position may have an issue, unless there’s another signal that’s telling the lights to come on.

So I dropped my car off at a local shop today and they confirmed it’s an electrical issue. They checked all the sensors and said there was nothing wrong with them. Below is what the FSM states. I never have done anything with electrical issues before. Any recommendations? Not sure what it means by select int lamp of BCM active test item.

Unless you have a CONSULT-3 unit (Nissan proprietary Scan Tool) none of those "Active Test" references will help you.

Best advice, remove the switch and see if it can be cleaned up. Or, find a cheap used part on eBay (usually $20 or so) and replace the unit.

Unless the lights are something you must have it might cost more to diagnose and repair than it is worth. Mine haven't been turned on in years... just my 10¢ mind you.

1+ ILM, I’d pull the switch and inspect it. If it’s broken, replace it or clean the contacts
