USB Directory Structure?

So I just got a 2013 G37 with no nav. I wanted to use the USB input in the console to play music. It works fine but the menu structure is not working. It's not showing the first folder which is the band. It's just showing me all the album directories. So instead of showing me

Led Zeppelin

and then all the albums under it, it will show.

LZ1
LZ2
Etc..

Any idea?

Well I just tried my wife's iPod Nano and it works perfectly in the car so I think I'll just get a used one off ebay and leave it in the car. Annoyed a USB key won't work correctly. Oh well....

Have you found anything else to work? I'd prefer USB over anything else.. I was thinking about naming the song titles different, but I have 4000+ songs so thats a bit annoying

I know on my Nav version the USB slows down and freezes with a little over 1000 songs. If you have that many, i'd suggest an ipod of some sort

Yep, same issue with my USB. I meticulously, probably the same as the OP, set up the folders with the artists and then their albums. So much for scrolling down to the group and then chose which album as my iPod. Another kicker is the songs are not necessarily in order for an album. It appears the listing on the USB is the order the files were put on the drive.

I ended up getting a Nano and it works great. My only gripe is that I had to buy an Apple product.
