No, I don't believe the setup you listed will work. The adapter you linked to is female lightning to male lightning. You need a female 30-pin to male 30-pin adapter so you may connect the infiniti ipod harness to it.

I currently run this setup for my iPhone 5; it allows my phone to simultaneously charge while plugged in. It should also work with your 5S.

Thanks for the suggestion! The adapter I linked also comes in a 30-pin flavor, selectable on the page.

The reason I am looking at this specific adapter, with the external power injection, is because I had multiple adapters similar to the one you linked and one day they stopped supplying power to my iPhone 4. I tried swapping phones and harness cables and determined that it is definitely a problem with my car not supplying the power through the iPod interface. Has anyone else experienced that?

Newbie question. But is the ipod/iPhone hookup supposed to charge your phone as well as play music? Mine only works for the music portion and doesn't charge. I have an iPhone 5 with the 30 pin to lightning adapter from apple From what I am reading here it seems it should charge my phone as well.

The iPhone requires specific signaling resistors built into the connectors that handshake with the device confirming that an "appropriate" charging device is connected. Just making sure power is supplied to the proper pins on the connector isn't enough. The charging adapter takes care of this detail.

Got the charging adapter in the mail, everything works perfectly with this combo. I have a 3A 12V-USB adapter and the phone charges very quickly.
