Remote start

So I purchased a compu star drone mobile remote start for my 2010 g37x sedan. The guy doing the installation said something about the cars CPU not wanting to learn the drone mobile program and also 2 wires were only reading 4 volts instead of 5. He said he was on the phone with compu star for 1.5 hours and neither of them could figure it out. He also said he did a push button start Infiniti last week with no problems. Anyone else have this remote start installed or attempted to have it installed?

Installing remote starts on a modern car is a fairly complicated operation these days. I have the knowledge to do it myself but don't want to. It sounds to me like you probably picked the wrong installer. Not to say there are no good installers out there...I am sure there are.. while complicated it is not rocket science. You simply have to connect the proper modules to the proper wires and have some knowledge of flashing those modules from a computer. My advice would be give up on this place and get one from the dealer or find a better installer as screwing up these wires could also cause your car to not start.

I want one too It's getting cold out.

I had a Viper alarm / remote start on my Minte Carlo and Trailblazer. When first installed it would intermittently cause the car to shut off on the timer after remote starting. Fortunately it wasn't ever too far from the house but did happen at speed 25 mph once. Very disconcerting. Two installers later it worked perfectly for years.

Doesn't really help with the compu star question though I'm thinking as mentioned, you may need to find a different installer. I've seen vids where people have installed remote starters using the intelligent key to run it so it has to be possible.

Any audio/video/alarm/remote start install is only as good as the installer.

This guy said he's been doing installs for 20 years and has done thousands of cars. I bought the remote start at best buy and just had them do the install (interest free financing for 18 months on the BB card). He said he will keep trying at no extra charge. I'll give him one more chance, he seems pretty knowledgable.
