I need audio help
I need audio help
I replaced door speakers in my 2010 G37 coupe with 6.5 components. I installed a 2 channel amplifier to drive these. I tapped into the bose amp wires(33,34,35,36). I spliced RCA's onto these pre-amp wires. This creates noice but no music. If I unplug the RCA's from the amp and plug an i-pod directly into my amplifier then the music plays just fine. This tells me that the amp is hooked up properly. I have the Bose amps completely removed. Do the Bose amps have to remain hooked up to the car. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't think yu can direct splice RCAs into the factory harness. I think that's where you're having your issue. You need something like below....
Line Output Converters at Crutchfield.com
Any kind of these will solve your problem.

Thank you for your input. I have one of those in my garage. I will try it tonight. I didn't use it because I read on here that people were having success just splicing RCA's onto the HU Pre amp wires. I have an old school Kicker ZR 360 amp if that makes a difference. I read on here that our cars put out balanced lines. maybe this amp doesn't accept that type of signal?
The line output converter did not work. It did however stop the noise. Still no music. How do I convert the balanced signal to unbalanced? Will a Rocford Fosgate 3 sixty line driver do the trick? Do I need to use pin #21(shield)?
