12" sub with Tight Bass?

WARNING: I am a noob when it comes to car audio

Hey guys!

I have a 12" Kicker CVR sub with a Kicker zx400.1 amp in the trunk of my G37x sedan. I am looking for a sub that will give me more tighter bass. Anyone have suggestons on what sub to go with?

Thanks in advance!

You should be concerned with the type of enclosure as much as the model or brand driver. This is a very bad place to get audio advice as a lot of it will be very wrong and informed. Check out some mobile audio forums and do some reading there.

Personally I don't like kicker subs I think they sound very dirty, go with a alpine type r or a fosgate p3 that's what I have lol bumps good no complaints, I got a ported box and it bumps! If u want tighter maybe go with 2 10s

Black Betty is spot on. The choice of enclosure will influence your bass output more than the choice of subwoofer brand. The best sub in the world in the wrong cabinet will always sound bad.

Generally speaker, for "tighter" bass, a sealed cabinet is the way to go.

Well I did get a custom sealed enclosure for a Kicker 12" CVR. So now I just need to find a tighter sounding sub that would fit the same specs....if thats even possible...

Hertz Mille speakers will be as tight as you can get (with the correct enclosure). Look at the dampening factor which will keep it crisp, tight without getting sloppy at high volume. It keeps the cone from unnecessary oscillating and movement which will make the sound muddy.
Second choice would be JL W6.

i have 1 JL Audio 10w3v3 in a H.O. Port-coupled enclosure in my trunk off a 300w amp. fits great, takes up hardly any room, has tight, clean bass, and is very musical. it drops like a 12. you would be hard-pressed to find a better sounding 10 than this sounds. and i prefer the fidelity of a ported 10 over a ported 12.
