Head Rest Speakers

My convertible has the premium Bose auto pilot sound system with the speakers in the head rest. Only problem is I've never heard any sound from these speakers, with the top down or up, high speed or low speed. The screen states that the auto pilot is on. Any ideas?

I thought the same the first few times I listened. I turned off the auto feature and adjusted the fade settings to get more sound from the back.
These speakers are designed to just back-fill sound and when I cranked the volume and put my ear to the speaker I finaly could hear (faintly) music.
With the roof down I never heard anything from the seat speakers, too much wind noise.

There is a setting in the radio to turn on the system...active or something.

They should be easy to hear. They aren't loud, you can hear them if you just turn your head...top up or down.

You need to adjust the speaker volume of the surround sound separately. Turn it up all the way & you can hear them with the top up or down!

I was just looking at this thread and I guess my question is how do you get any sound to the passengers in the back seat? When I put people in the backseat they say they cannot hear anything, any thoughts?

Turn the surround up, and set the audio to coming from the rear vs the door front speakers, I'd think. The rear speakers are by the seat, so the best bet is the head rest speakers but it may be too lound in the front seat as a drawback.

Yeah - sitting in the back, passengers can't hear $hit unless you adjust the fade to like +70% rear...

Thanks for the links. None of them mention the effectiveness of the technology with the top down. Which, I think, is not at all.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have the dealership look at it. I took my car in around 18K miles for other issues and they found that the left rear speaker was completely inoperable from the very beginning. They said there were no wires going to the speaker at all...how funny is that? lol

I'm thoroughly happy with mine. All adjustments have been made in the settings to my liking and with top up or down , windows up or down I like it.

Wow! Really! Yeah definitely something to get checked out if it's not working as designed.
