well if a v1 did this you would not know either, it could be an isolated incident with this particular radar. However, I believe that the 9500 series is built much better than the 8500 series.

I've had the 8500 and now have a 9500 (for the past year) and it is definitely built much better. My 8500 would have some issues starting up when it was left in the dash during the hot summer days.

Yea, my 8500x50 was great, but the screws came out towards the end of its life (3 years later) and also had issues with the plug on the radar... I loved it, but it definitely was not built to last. Although, I do take some blame for that since it might have falled a few times

there is a access place on the passenger side. You have to take the black trim off that is behind the battery. You will have to puch a hole in the garmet and this will lead to behind the glove box area.

I recommend against getting a 9500ci. The ZR4 laser shifters the 9500ci uses are known to be weak. You are better off spending just a little bit more and getting a Beltronics STIr Plus and Laser Interceptor Jammers.

This is a huge question with lots of answers and many opinions. Here is mine

If you are looking for window mount units the top units are:
1.)beltronics 9500xi (beltronics and escort are now the same company)
2.)if you need stealth (as in avoid radar detector detectors) then STI-R Driver or The Red
3.)Valetine ONe (this one gives you arrow to help show you the way. its been out a long time, but has many revisions and firmware updates. but only has a single horn in the front.

If you want a custom install. As in no window mount and you put it wher eyou want, you are looking at around 1500 - 1800 for a good unit. I have the STI-R + which I think is the best.
A lot of people have the 9500ci which has been out a few years longer and comes with the ZR4 laser shifters(whicha re illegal in a few states) but they suck pretty bad for laser shifters.
