radar systems

hey, i am looking into buying the escort passport 9500ci radar system which is a custom device that requires an instillation. does anyone know, or better yet have the device, and can tell me how it installs into the g37x (with all the packages aka nav and so on...)
it seems like an amazing system and im very interested in buying it, but afraid of tearing up my interior!
thanks for the help...

Don't have the ci but do have the 9500ix, not aware of a better system. Kind of hard to compare it to a V1.. it's missing a GPS which enables the defender camera database, the ability to custom mark known speed traps in your area, or remove known falses either manually or automatically and lastly a laser protection system.

The V1's direction indicator would be nice to have, although when your alarm triggers you slow down..regarless of where it's at and knowing front or back doesn't really change the fact I'm waiting until I spot the LEO or the signal fades before I return to speed.

I've seen someone have the ci installed in there car w/the mute console in place of where the cig tray is. He also had something installed right above the rearview mirror. Not familiar with all that it comes with but it was cool that he could close the cig tray and hide it when he left the car.

Yep. I have had mine for 5 years and hard wired it to 2 different cars. It has paid for itself many times now.

Does the 8500 require installation? I haven't paid much attention to radar detectors for many years because the conventional wisdom thinks the police are constantly coming out with new technologies that make them worthless. But maybe that's a load of crap -- it's not like the cops have unlimited funds to buy the latest and greatest radar systems all the time.

So in your opinions, something like the 8500 actually works -- if not 100% of the time, at least enough to be worth it?

do a search lots of people are using rear view mirror mounts and it looks very OEM. most people don't even realize i have a RD when they sit in my car. I have the 8500x50 which does great but it's missing GPS so if you live near a city you will get lots of false beeping. If i were to do it over again i would get the 9500i so i can cancel out the false positives of department store automatic doors that trigger it.

here is my v1 with the mirror mount. personally I wouldnt use a gps feature to ignore alerts at locations. I have seen cops hide at supermarket parking lots (where radars go nuts). think they purposely hide their assuming people ignore those radar alerts.

V1 has saved me more times than i can count. The mirror mount didnt work in my last car, glad to see that it works here.

Where did everyone tap their +12v ign source? I was quite shocked when i opened the fusebox...

i tapped into the rearview mirror for power, believe you need the premium package though so it has the auto dimming. used the stealth cord for that

i got mine from the stealthcord site, but it looks the same as that. if you google it you can find out how to make your own.

also, be careful when sticking the prongs into the mirror. you have to force it in and can snap off parts of the prong.
