11 Speaker Bose + a Sub?

Hey Guys,

I'm content with the 11 speaker bose audio package that came with my car, but I'd like to add a little more thump to it. Is it possible to tack on a sub/amp to this existing setup without re-doing everything? Any [serious] suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Of course it is, many members have done it. Are you willing to give up some trunk space?

I always thought the sound system would be the last thing I'd mod on my G though.. it's pretty decent as is IMO

do you mean switch out a speaker for a subwoofer, or add on a sub w/ a amp?

A lot of people have put on a dedicated amp and sub, and it works very well. take a look at the 4080 enclosure for a 10" box, and maybe a JL 500/1 and JL 10w6v2.

Yeah, I have everything but the Nav... I still have the screen though. I'd be willing to sacrifice some trunk space too.

I was thinking about uping mine also. I looked into purchasing a couple of the new Bose speaker headrests that they put in the convertable and having them wired into my system. I went to the dealership yesterday and they looked up the "speaker headrests" for me,---$475/ each. Ouch May wait for a while. lol

I've been investigating this too, although I didn't buy the car yet (I'm the "research everything before" kinda guy...).

So apparently the best (i.e. popular) way to go it to use a JL 500/1v2 amp, a JL 10W6v2 woofer and a 4080 enclosure in the trunk. I saw a photo that someone posted here that he could still use the trunk net, and it had plenty of space left (for groceries and that kind of stuff).

I'm going for a sedan, and I don't know if the 4080 enclosure fits the trunk of the sedans OK, but I would say it's the same?

I think there is a DIY in the forum somewhere explaining how to do it, but of course you can just take to an audio install shop.

Are you driving a coupe or a sedan?

Also, the DIY is here:
