Iphone 3GS and Bluetooth problems?

Hey guys,
Does anyone else on the boards have the Iphone 3GS? If so, do you have any problems with the Bluetooth not working correctly with your g37? I have an 08 G37s coupe and ever since buying the Iphone 3GS have had numerous issues with the bluetooth.

Basically the car shows that the phone is registered and in distance, but if I attempt to dial a # or contact from the phone and hit dial on the phone itself, the majority of the time the call will not transfer over to the bluetooth in the car. The phone says that the audio source is bluetooth, but my radio continues to play as thoug the signal is not being sent that there is an active call.

I am trying to figure out if anyone else has this issue or if I should bring the phone into apple to fix. I never had any problems with the original 1st generation Iphone and bluetooth. It worked without any problem. So I am thinking either I have a defective phone or its just a widespread issue with the new software.

Thanks

08G37 and 3GS here and no such connection problems. I have been lazy too, just been relying on the iphones voice dialing to initiate the call (as opposed to the car's phone book), everything is working fine so far...

Have you tried re-pairing the phone with the car?

The only "issues" I have had so far is the degraded bluetooth quality (worse than my old @ss Razr) and a slower recognition time when the phone first connects to the car.

Ive repaired the phone numerous times. Still have the same issue. When I use the car's voice control to initiate the calls or receive incoming calls I have no problem.

The problem is that I have not entered every contact from my phone into my car. Ive been kind of too lazy to do that. Partially my fault, partially the fault of the design of iphone/car's bluetooth and contact import feature.

If you happen to have some time and feel like trying to initiate the calls by going into your phone contacts screen and hitting the dial button, let me know the outcome. Like I said, it will work every couple of times and the majority of the other times its very sporatic in the sense that it will never go to the radio or will go to the radio after the other person has answered the call and said hello 5 times.

not sure about 3Gs but it works every time for me on the 3G. I have yet to place m contacts in my car since I bought my Iphone 3G. its annoying that it is not set up to automatically transfer the phone book like on my old razor.

dude, I haven't plugged my phone numbers into the G either. When I said voice dialing I said thru my iPhone, not the car. I can try initializing a call from the contacts screen on my iPhone, but I don't know how that could be different. But like I said, I haven't had any issues.

I have a 3g and I wonder how you can make the g-map application sound over all the speakers. Does the 2008 G37 support it??? I do not have navigation if it helps.

Thanks,

Ian B

I don't have any problems with mine, try restoring your iPhone firmware and repairing it with your car. Are you JB'd? Any hacks installed on the phone?

I did not jailbreak the phone and no hacks installed. I've reloaded my firmware on the phone several times and also deleted the phone from the car and removed the car from the phones bluetooth pairing several times. Still does not fix the problem.

Called Apple and they think its hardware related. They want me to schedule some time with a local genius bar and have them trouble shoot the issue with my car. Should be interesting to see them leave the store and go out to my car.

Not likely they will just hand you a new one knowing Apple. Know anyone with a 3GS you could try their phone with?

I had iPhone and the iPhone 3G, now I have the iPhone 3GS. No problem pairing my iPhones all along. My only problem is the iPod cable. It hasn't been working since I got the iPhone 3G. Wish they make the newer cable for the 3G/3GS. I had used the Scosche iPhone adapter and it didn't work as it supposed to work with the system and charging the phone at the same time like the iPhone 1st gen.

Lack of charging capability with the iPhone 3g/gs is a major issue. Do wonder if a fix is on the way.
