Mulitple Amps From Pre-Amps

Probably the only one that on here that owns a Q40 but getting ready to do an audio overhaul. From what I am reading most of you are splicing into the pre-amp wires before they hit Bose amp to send audio signal to their aftermarket amp:

(23) Rear Left - (SB)(Sky Blue) **Preamp from HU
(24) Rear Left + (V)(Violet) **Preamp from HU
(25) Rear Right - (Y)(Yellow) **Preamp from HU
(26) Rear Right + (BR)(Brown) **Preamp from HU

With that mind set, we are saying that those wires are pushing enough signal to power both the new aftermarket amp and the Stock Bose amp?

Additionally, say I were to bypass and remove the Bose amp altogether. Would those pre-amp signals spliced be able to provide for two aftermarket amps?

Thanks for any help,

It's a component setup, so I believe you would have to replace all of the speakers as well. The stock amp will provide you with enough power/signal, barring you are not using a fosgate amp which takes a bit more power to trigger on.

Thanks for the info. Yes replacing the speakers is part of this process as well. Nothing against Bose normally, but just not cutting it in this car.

Does anyone know if these wires travel under the dash, all the way across to the passenger side Molex?

I have the same problem ... Has anyone figured out this yet?

Getting everything together to install amp/sub. Haven't got eyes on the bose amp yet. I need to know what gauge are the wires coming out the bose amp so I can order the right taps. Any help will be much appreciated?

The wire sizes range from around 20-22, 16-18, and some closer to 12-14, if I recall correctly. You'll want to pick up a few of each size.

Found this buried in another thread from 2011. The color coding is helpful.

Thought it made sense to add to this thread:

Can you provide an enlarged version of that by any chance? It is a thumbnail size even after clicking on it. kind of looks like an 80's TV screen after a station went "off the air"

Looks like I grabbed the URL of the thumbnail image the first time. Fixed.

This thread rocks. Shame that there is not more activity in the audio forum. Adding a sub to the factory Bose system is one of the first modifications you should make to the car.

Ok guys, I have been double checking my wiring for a stereo install and I cant seem to clear up a couple of things. I have a coupe with Navi and my system is:

Tweeters (front L/R) B41 35&36/ 33&34? (preamp from HU)
Mid Bass (front L/R) B41 23&24 / 25&26? (preamp from HU)
10" sub in the trunk - is there a Preamp from HU for sub?

Also, when I add my mids making it a 3-way component system, where would I get HU preamps for those? I will be adding a second amp since I am running a fully active crossover setup.

Its really late and Im exhausted so I apologize if I am not making any sense.

just got my G and will be the first mod I do I believe. from reading through the thread I found where I need to attach my amp and sub (I think) to the stock bose equipment.

any recommendations on subs and/or amps to go with? Been out of the car audio game about 10 - 15 years, not looking for as much bump as I once was, but I just feel like the stock system isnt cutting it for me. Was thinking a 12 would do the trick, hell maybe even a 10.

Isnt there a stock sub in the bose system?
