so the screen does not go all the way off unless you pull the fuse. which is what I did. I pulled both fuses for the bose amp, the fuse for "audio" which killed the whole center dash (radio, climate control) and the fuse for both the cig. lighters/12v plugs. still hearing the same high pitched noise when I step on the gas peddle between 75 mph and 85 mph. no reduction in volume. it is driving me crazy. has ANYONE in this thread found the resolution to this problem?!

BUMP - anyone figure this one out? I'm working through some other electrical issues, but I have had the one described in this thread since owning the car. It sounds like a "mosquito tone", and is coming from the front right side of the passenger compartment.

I happened upon this thread by accident, as this issue wasn't even one that I would think to search for - I'm pretty sure I wrote this off years ago as my going insane, but it's blown my mind reading all of your experiences and seeing that this is actually a recognized problem. Interested to hear if there is a resolution.

If alternator ground cable is loose it can cause that noise

Anyone consider the fuel pump? It makes a very high pitched whine from the passenger side, can wash it out by turning the stereo up. Was a problem on my 350z since new, had it replaced, same issue, just lived with it. Same noise with my second 350z and with current g37.

if it's coming from the engine bay (as some have mentioned) it's probably the HID ballast. They operate at very high frequency, so you can get harmonics that are audible sometimes.
