Really bad noise when swithching to FM what gives?!

Every once in a while when I go from a pre-set XM station to an FM, the rear speakers go "BBRRAHHH!" REALLY LOUD! I quickly go back to the XM and when I go back to the FM its usually fine. What gives? I'm pretty sure it only happens when going to FM and it comes from the rear speakers. Also, after this sometimes it has a softer "ppt" noise when I switch between FM station which goes away but I don't think it ever happens with XM. Anyone know what this is? I'm afraid my speakers will blow!

Sounds like something is seriously wrong. I'd take the car back to the dealer and ask them what gives. Should be a warranty repair.

Could be a Nickelback song on the radio.

Yeah, I suppose I should do that, its just that its not super frequent and the chance of actually getting it to happen while I'm there is unlikely. Maybe I could tape it...

That is a perfect description of what mine is doing! If the weather is nice enough for a drive today, I'll pull off the cover and do that fade test. Is it low on yours all the time or just following a buzz?

No it's permenantly lower....Like maybe 10% of of the output of the front speakers

Interesting. Mine is not that low. I would put my rear speaker output at 30-50% for the front, but not 10%. I'd be interested in hearing from those without this problem to know what the typical output is on a well functioning system.

Actually, I just played some music with a fuller range and the bass in particular are at about 10% on the rears

They replaced a fuse...Supposedly there's two and I must have replaced the wrong one...looks like its fixed now..this might be prevalent for a lot of people...I'm the third person I've seen on the board with a prob with rear speakers...Everyone should send their faders to the rear and check if your speakers are working

was it like an under dash flat fuse or something integrated with the system?

I didn't ask but he said they didn't have to take apart the dash etc so it leads me to believe its the normal fuse box.
