larger tyres on rear Why

Why did Nissan put larger tyres on the rear than on the front yet leave the wheel sizes the same.

By larger I assume you mean wider?

The coupe had a 9" wheel in the rear and 8.5" wheel in the front. What car are you referring to?

Sorry, I have a 370GT.It has 18x 8inch all round with 245 on the rear and 225 on the front. It just seems counter intuitive to me.

So you bought it that way from the factory?
The only setups here in the US come w/ the same wheels & tires all around or a slight stagger like Sam mentioned w/ wider tires and wheels in back.
