Q50 spare tire kit?

I noticed that there is an option to order a spare tire kit for the new Q50.

In a 3 month span, recently, I managed to get 2 flats. Before then it had been many years without a flat.
I use my G37 mostly for long trips from 600 to 4,000 miles and would not want the aggravation of a flat tire during one of these trips, without at least having a spare.

There doesn't seem to be an option to delete the run flats and replace them with non-run flats, when you order the spare tire kit.
I live in SW Florida and prefer having top rated, non-run flats summer tires, on my car.

A concern for me as well. Perhaps you could work out a dealership wheel or tire swap out at the time of purchase. That's what I'll probably do if I purchase the Q50 for the Mrs. Or purchase a set of tires prior to buying the car, put them on right away and sell the new run flat takeoffs.

I would switch the tires asap, but I must say, apart from when on the track, these felt pretty nice.

I hate that this is happening.

When i considered buying a 335i i had 2 concerns. The fuel system was a big one but the worst was the run flats. Car and driver managed to flatten 2 of them on a road trip. When in the middle of nowhere you probably wont find a shop that has the ability to put them on your rim either. Add in the fact that they make pilot 2 tires seem cheap and this is getting stupid.

Yeah I will be curious as to the pricing on these tires, they are potenza run flats on the sports, not sure about the non sports. Thats why they add the spare tire package for just incase. This is one of the setbacks I have found with the new car.

A lot of people may not like it, but its not that big of a deal. Negotiate a wheel/tire swap with your purchase or simply take them off when you get the car, sell them, and get whatever tires you like. Not a deal breaker.

Heres the thing

If the car comes standard with run flats more than likely there isnt a spare at all. Which means the cutout under the trunk probably isnt there. I would love for someone to prove me wrong with a picture of it. Whats in the spare tire kit.

^^ you sir are dead wrong. Without the Spare tire kit there is a thicker foam piece with the tools, with the spare tire thats where it goes and the tool foam piece is in the well. If you look at a G37 Convertible, you will kind of get an idea of what it is like.

Anything to save 25 lbs and maybe squeak out a slightly higher EPA rating. Annually I travel 650 miles to the middle of rural South Dakota to visit family. If something happens while traveling through rural Nebraska or South Dakota run flats will do nothing for me except get me to a town with a decent motel. Run flats might be a good solution in a metropolitan area....but they are totally unacceptable for those of us traveling through rural America. I certainly hate buying a new car only to spend another $1,000 for a tire that can be replaced in the middle of nowhere. A spare tire kit is helpful...but it still does not address my need for a tire that can be readily acquired and replaced without special equipment.
