I think I want to go for the blacked out look on my coupe. I found a reputable local shop that will paint my wheels black and my grill, includes dropping off the car dismantling the wheels and tires, painting them black and the grill black. For 335.00 Is this a good deal?

Also what are the pros and cons of paint versus powder coating? I want my wheels to match my car, also I see a lot of guys doing a red lip, should I so a lip or leave it all black?

Does anyone have a picture of a Black Coupe with black painted wheels no lip?

powdercoat is more durable, paint on the other hand can easily chip away.

 

Depends on how well he preps the wheels, what areas you dive in, how much clear coat he uses.

Powder coat is alot stronger but both will chip eventually. Also costs more.

Another big factor is that paint actually bonds to the rims. So when it chips it is ok. Powder coat does not bond at all with the surface, more or less just a covering. WHen it chips, water/dirt can get beneath it and it make it start flaking off.

sounds like a good price for all the work. if you're going with a single color, id look into powder coating as its more durable. if you want the t/a stripe, paint is probably your best option to get it all done at one place.

 

I love the gunmetal, but to the naked eye it almost looks stock, so I would want something a little darker, between gunmetal and black.

 

Powder coat >>>> than painting by far, as many others have posted, its just more hardy and isnt sensitive to chipping as subject to painted rims. Also, I say keep em' black on black and leave red pinstrips to the original Volk time attacks, its more clean fully murdered out, but again that's just my opinion. All in all, pc your wheels and enjoy
