G37S X or XS . Does it make any difference anyway??

Hey guys!

Finally justified buying my G37. Now I'm shopping around in the Utah Valley Area and I can't decide between what model to get and what I should be looking for. I test drove an 09 X a month ago and it was pretty nice. Much faster than my current Volvo XC.

The snow hasn't been bad at all this year, and even then I have my wagon I can drive if its bad enough, but is their enough of a performance difference between the X and other models? I've looked at some XS models, not any S models cause they don't have a ton out this way, but I just want input from anybody who's dealt with a similar decision..

I also decided to go for the updated look and get a 10 or newer. I read about a gasket issue that costs a ridiculous amount of money to fix pre 2012, so I'm leaning 2012.

If you're talking about sedans, the differences are mostly cosmetic.

I' go for a S just to get the sport seats and 18" wheels. While the duckfeet aren't going to win any beauty contests, they are worlds better looking than the stock 17s.

What Lego said (and welcome to the site too!)

But the coupe XS is a significant upgrade, the bigger brakes alone are about a $1200 upgrade

Thanks! I guess what I’m wondering is if I’m going to be really missing out if I go with just the X model. I’m heading off to test drive a couple today.

Paddles and seats are the only Sport package options that are worth paying extra for in the sedan, I would think. Sport seats can be bought for like $300 at junkyards, so there is no point in paying a lot for an xS sedan when you can just add the parts you want for a lot less.
The bumper and wheels are different, too - but that's down to personal tastes.

The main reasons to get a 2010+ are to get the Bluetooth audio, and the later cars for the gasket fix.

In a coupe, totally different ball game. The xS is actually a good package to have.
