It's simple: this is a luxury-sports car. this car is going to be a daily driver for 90% of its owners. Those who are idiotic enough to pass judgement on someone's manhood for driving an AT version of the G37 are either 1.) young, insecure and full of bravado, and/or 2.) young and have never experienced what it's like to commute to and from work 5 days a week with 1-hour+ trips each way in bumper to bumper traffic. Driving a manual with that kind of twice-per-day commute is enough to make anyone of any age want to scream in agony.

I am fortunate to have an easy-going 35 min reverse commute these days. If the 09 G37 does not incorporate a 7AT, I may just grab me some 6MT... and not because it's more manly but because it would be more fun for me in most circumstances (plus, it looks my fiance is getting an 07 FX now so a stick-shift would be deemed more justifiable to her )

The G37S is far from a car labeled as a sports car that requires a MT to perform.

I just got off the phone with the head engineer from the G37S. He said the car was originally only planned to be a 6 speed and they were only going to offer it in black since it was the "best color." but that changed due to preasure from up top. He proceeded to say that you were a flaming retard and he was dissapointed that you could afford his artwork.

 

I didn't read all the pages but my commute is the 405 and I have a 6mt. I guess it depends on how much you like driving (a stick) because for me, it is worth sitting in traffic to own a stick.
