I always feel they underpowered the rx-8. They should have turboed/supercharged whatever to get it up to ~300hp at the least. All the same cars in that class are rollin around there. Rx-7 was a beast...rx-8 was a relative dissapointment :/

needless to say the 335 will destroy us, 300lb of torque.. droool... G35 and IS350 will be punished by this thing... im hoping the new G35 sedan will have some serious power upgrade... then theres the excellent mod friendly twin turbo engine... can you say bulletproof internals?
im jealous
should be faster than the Mustang GT because its lighter
might be faster than the current M3 because its got 40lb/ft more torque.
im expect low 13s 1/4 mile stock

thats just the manufacturer's estimate, Lexus qouted like 5.6 for the IS350 on thier site but car and driver was able to do 5.1 0-60 in their test.
300hp, 300lb-ft of torque, 200 lb lighter than us... 5.3s is a very conservative estimate.

exactly, i've repeatedly said bmw numbers are conservative relative to our numbers, and others disagree... hey, if your G fares better against them, more power to you...

i think nissan is also pretty conservative... i dont think VQ35 is overated... look at the way Nissan has been qouting hp numbers... 298, 287, 255, 174 etc... then look at the way Honda and Toyota rated their engines before the SAE NET standard... 200 (now 197), 230 (now 215), 240, 270 (now 258), 280 (now 262) etc.. nice rounded numbers... that seems too perfect to be true.

Our car runs about what it should run at our hp rating and weight. a lot of folks think our engine is vastly overated but forget that our cars are fatasses that outweighs everyone else by hundreds of pounds! i know some mod at the eclipse forum that run a 14.1 on his stock 2002 maxima, with only the 255hp VQ engine, it weight about 250lb less than us

one thing im sure of is that BMW does not underate their engine, nor have they ever qouted whp instead of bhp. BMWs are very light cars.

Terry, I agree with you. I'm not disputing SAE correction; rather, how many folks rely on hp/tq numbers as the exclusive and dispositive metric for performance.
