Ok so I am officially getting an XBOX360 and Im a Sony Fan

After seeing the vids of The Godfather on IGN.com I know I have to have an XBOX360 now and I never was a MS Game System fan.

Not to mention, I cant believe that their new controller surpasses the ps2 dualshock.

Have you guys even seen the PS3 controller? WTH were they thinking? That thing looks like a boomerang and really uncomfortable.

Though Sony has the technological advantage this time, I think the 360 may do it for me. Knowing me though, I will likely have both heh.

I got the new GamePro magazine and they were really swinging on the XBOX360. They got a new game coming out supposed to be the next-gen Grand Theft Auto. I will def. be in line with you to pick up the 360 though... Looking forward to it. I've always been an MS guy

As I had mentioned to John earlier, MS has all the $$$ and talent to put towards this. You give them a 2nd shot at a product like XBOX, it is going to be good. Not to mention they're already ahead of the game with the wireless controllers, headset, things of that nature. Besides you know you can hack the XBOX into your own PVR recording device which for me is a big thing.

More importantly though, the biggest catch is XBOX LIVE. You ever played Madden on LIVE? Its awesome. I've heard PS2's Live system is just so laggy because they allow modem users on it. Who still uses modem? Meanwhile me playing NCAA Football on LIVE is like the guy is playin right next to me. I love all the competition though. Its great to see these guys come out with the latest and greatest - we are all going to benefit.

ya, xbox has all the $$ but that never equates to being successful. Look at what happend to Nintendo after the SNES, they had the talent and all the major companies stood behind them after the success of the SNES. Nintendo not only had the peoples confidence in quality, but also the brand loyalty. However $$ and brand loyalty did little to win people over on the N64. The N64 did have some incredible games (Goldeneye still one I truly miss) however their lack of decent games, and their target audience being mostly smaller kids is what brought them down. Video games have drawn in a different audience from the genesis/NES days. Nintendo banked on continuing to sell its product to that same audience from 1985 in 1993. The games are mostly what make a system and Sony is the only real console who lands most RPG games which have cult like support. Also many of the japanese small name cult games also appear only on the PS2 as the microsoft is mostly a western console and the developers are mostly all western. With the PS2 you get alot of asian flavor but also get the occassionaly western games such as madden etc. PS2 sales are always greater in foreign countries and I believe Sony's got superior hardware compared to the 360 this time around. Its true the xbox does have more devices/games which are in process of being released, but the xbox also had a jump start on development.

IMHO, sony will continue being successful because it has a larger target audience (both kiddy games like crash bandicoot and ratchet and clank, and M rated games like god of war and metal gear) and in addition its target audience is larger because they also cater to foreign markets with their cult like games (dynasty warriors and thousands of japanese RPGs).

Damn, I just re-read my paragraph above...sounds like something I wrote in a marketing class on 'why sony will see continued success in the coming years'... LOL

im a big video game fan and compsci major. here is everything i Know about xbox360 vs PS3

so basically the Xbox360 has a 3 core, 2 thread per core power PC processor capable of running 6 simutaneous hardware threads.

The PS3 has the cell processor which consist of one power PC processor, and 7 APUs, with one doing background work, and the other 6 be assigned to the programer. Think of the cell as an 8 core processor

Since its 2 vastly different types of processor structure, you cant really compare clockspeed, we use FLPS, or floating point calculations per seconds as a bench mark to test CPU power. Its kind of like, how cars have different engines such as turbocharged I4, V6, V8 etc and different horsepower ratings, but in the end its the actual 0-60 and 1/4 time that best tells you how fast a car is.

Xbox can push 1 terraflops
PS3 can push 2 terraflops
so the ps3 is much more powerful in terms of runing 3d graphics and AI and physics.
The video cards on the 2 systems are about the same, the ATI card on the xbox360 has a more efficient structure with unified pipelines which can be assigned to pixel and shaders. The PS3's GPU by Nvidia has a more traditional structure where pixel and shader pipelines are seperate, but its clocked at 550MHZ vs 500MHZ for the xbox360 GPU.

OVERALL IMO, and according to industry experts, the PS3 runs circle around the xbox360 in terms of processing power. The gap between the xbox360 and ps3 will be much bigger than the gap between the ps2 and the xbox. The big unkonwn right now is that we dont know the price for the ps3. It could be really expensive...

BTW the next Grand Theft Auto will be a PS3 luanch tittle, its not accnoucned for the xbox360. Other major tittles for the ps3 include Metal Gear Solid 4, Tekken 5, Gran Turismo 5, Devil May Cry 4 among others. Ill get a xbox360 only if ps3 end up costing 500 bucks or something, otherwise id wait.

Maybe its not the same scenario but I assume you're using Windows right now? Im sure your resume is in Word? Im sure you used Powerpoint at sometime for a presentation?

MS may have cornered the market on a lot of these products but saying $$ NEVER equates to being successful Im not sure I agree with. Obviously you need to have the brains and vision as well but the $$ is definitely a factor!

True $$ makes a big difference, but with the Xbox, microsoft tapped into a new niche market. MS has a chokehold on the PC market in terms of software and programs. Unfortunately, most of the hardware makers Intel etc have to follow #1 because there's simply no OTHER OS!! (linux...cmon...lets be serious!!)

However, many examples can be shown where a huge company tries to jump into a market at the wrong time with the wrong target (ie. SEGA). Sega was huge after its success with the Genesis. I even recall the rave that came about once the Dreamcast was released, but 6 months-1 year later...SEGA went to ****!! They spent so much money on marketing and advertising, look at SEGA now, they only develop games... Although SEGA and microsoft are 2 totally different companies. Sony has a similar grasp on electronics that Microsoft has on computer software. I remember a time when Sony only made walkmans and TVs/VCRs. Now they make just about everything... The xbox360 wont fail like the dreamcast...i dont suspect, however in the oversea's market I can guarantee a sony victory...

give it up Pratik, Microsoft is going DOWN!! All you microsoft band wagon jumping bastards are getting sucked in!! Dont let them fool you, i smell a revolution oncoming...pick your camp wisely!!

In addition, I TRULY doubt and hope that console games NEVER have any type of MS based OS on them (specifically windows). If this does ever happen, I'll refuse to buy one and simply use my damn PC as a gaming console.
