Hmmm. Yes I'm gonna say it. Tell him to look at the Scion TC. I've never actually ridden or driven in it and yes its underpowered but he'll be saving some many to hook it up a bit and everything I've heard about it has been positive.

Its at least worth looking at you know?

 

I agree, that's the other car he was looking at, but he like I wanted the luxury also. But he does like the styling and all the options you can put on the TC.

 

Well he already did have an Altima but you can get a 2005 Altima in that range no? Not a bad car.

 

What types of luxury is he looking for in a car at $22k? Things like leather and power seats? For the price, a Scion tC is hard to beat and he'll save a few grand for other things. It looks pretty good and it's basically a Toyota. I would much rather get a tC over a Civic but I've noticed a lot of tCs lately. Other options might be a Mini Cooper S, RSX, Subaru Legacy or Jetta but those may push his budget. If he does consider used, I would get a IS300. Great car and you can pick up a 2-3 year old one with 40k miles for ~$20k.

 

he could get an rsx type-S used or maybe a new one not sure the prices on the new ones... I like the tC and the mazda3 sp2.3 they're both great cars. The Mazda 3 (I would only get the 5door which I believe is the sp2.3 but I could be wrong?) has gotten a lot of praise from magazines like car and driver, money magazine, road & track. Given that I would probably go with the .....mazda3, I like the tC too. It's really a tough call. I would go sit in each one and the RSX...god i love the RSX seats.

 

05 RSX-S is a better car the previous. much better suspension and 10 more hp (yeah I know whoopty doo) The shifting is effortless though. I enjoyed the car while I had it (2002)

 

yea acura's/hondas have the best transmissions anyway.
