Ghosn seeking partnership with US automaker again

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/05/g...tomaker-again/

It seems Ghosn is looking for a US partner again. Im wondering what kind of cars this would lead to and how the parts sharing would affect quality.

Anyone remember DSM? If not many remember, than I've made my point, but being that this is a car forum, probably not.

Hey clok, were you asking about DSM??

DSM = Diamond Star Motors = Joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler

DSM netted the following cars for Chrysler:
-Dodge Stealth a.k.a. stripped down Mitsubishi 3000GT
-Dodge Talon a.k.a. Mitsubishi Eclipse

There may be more, but these two were the most prominent.

ahhh yes. I definitely remember those. Guy one block down from me has an old stealth. A guy at work has a VR4 and I still love to see those. So the DSM venture is still on I presume?

I think the DSM partnership eventually floundered after the Stealth got canned from Dodge's lineup and there was no replacement for the outgoing Talon. I think around that time, (late 90s?) all the car manufacturers got on the SUV bandwagon and started to focus away from sport coupes and high end production sports cars. Luckily the tech boom and the early tuner market created a new generation of sports car enthusiasts to bring performance motorsports back into the mainstream.
