Where to live/not live in Alexandria?

I'm looking for an apartment, trying to avoid gang territory and other undesirable things.

Are you limited to the Alexandria City area? If so, try Barton's Crossing next to Landmark Mall. I lived there years back. It's next to a subsidized neighborhood, but it actually works to your advantage.

-Underground garage with assigned parking spaces.
-Controlled entry into garage and buildings.
-Luxurious amenities and floorplans.
-Rent price may be competitive due to the surrounding environs.

Good Luck!

What about near the large AMC Theatre? That area looks nice.

Any part of Alexandria is fine, the part closer to Springfield is probably preferred. Garage parking sounds nice, I'll take a look at that place.

The AMC Hoffman off of Telegraph Road? That area is fine location wise. I don't want to be within walking distance of a metro station though.

^^

Yeah, well I did my stint in PG as well. It's called College Park!!! The most dangerous 4 years of my life!

Got mugged in between PG-2 and the practice field at gunpoint. Suspects were never found.

During my tenure there, some chinese girl got shot off of 193 by some driveby. The suspect was never found and the girl died. Didn't even make it on the news, but it did make it on the 15%, which is an Asian focuse school newspaper at UMCP.

Some dude got stabbed in the neck at Lot 4 by some unknown assailant. Suspect was never found.

So yeah.. PG sucks.

^^^That's where I lived, all the way at the end of Beulah Street where it meets Telegraph Road. I loved it there.
No gangs, great sushi bar and a high military presence.

I've been looking there, not a lot of 1BRs though. What's the realtors fee on a condo rental? Maybe I could bargain on a 2br.

The Landlord cuts us a check. Usually 25-50% of the first months rent. Let me know if you're interested and I can run a search on the area.
Kingstowne seems to be going to the youths (Young professionals 25-35).

Hey NoG4Me
I ran a quick search and found a 2 bedroom and 2 bath for $1275/month.
