Volkswagen VX3: Bang for the Buck

I was reading this in the Off Topic thread, so if this is a repost for some of you... bite me

Team Volkswagen and the Moonraker team develped this claiming it will come in at a price tag starting at $17K. I would seriously buy one of these after finding out a bit more information. It kinda has me excited.

0-62 in 5.7 running on 125 hp. Im sure there is some potential there

I'd rather just get a bike or spend more and get either a T-Rex or an Ariel Atom...
I really doubt the Volkswagon will beat the performance of either of those 3...

yeah, but the Atom itself goes for what...40k or higher if im not mistaken? This thing only (according to them) costs 17k.

For those who would rather get a bike, thats understandable, I just like the fact of traveling on more wheels personally. Thats what brought my attention to it.

I think its pretty cool - it would be fun and have wow factor, but still don't know if its worth it... you think that car would also qualify for VW's "lowest ego emission" standard?

nope, I would have my bullhorn out saying "because lek never claimed me as his father"

for 17K, I think its awesome. I am intrigued to find out more about its commercial availability.

I think the fact it has 2 seats is key... reminds me of this (http://www.gocarsf.com/) which was actually really fun and a good way to get around SF on a recent trip there.

Check out the drilled rotors -

Hey, that is pretty sweet. Like you said, a nice way to get around town.

The VW is claiming 40 something mpg. that makes for a sweet round town commuter.

As Mike Tyson once said before a match 'Everyone's got a plan until they get hit...'

I'd have to say the same for this vic...its all fun and neat until that 18 wheeler cuts you off sending you off a ledge inside this sardine can!!

I think it looks like a blast to drive .
I already own a motorcycle. I can't see this type of vehicle appealing to someone that would not ride a bike. Too much like a bike for safety conscious people to drive it. It appeals to people that have that 'Risk Gene' that they just discovered.

Thats a good way of putting it. I think that is me. I am a bit scared to get a bike, but would enjoy something that has fun factor to it.

That thing does look pretty sweet. I may have to put in for one of those in a couple years when my student load is paid off.
