1/4 Mile Times G37

My '13 G37xS must just be a turd. I ran 22 passes over the course of 24 hours this weekend and the best time I could get was a:
14.172@98.46mph.
60'-2.116
R/T-.660
Out of those 22 passes, I never once hit a 99mph trap speed, and I was always within a 14.2 and a 14.45. The car is incredibly consistent... Temp was inbetween 75-90 degrees and humid. Track is at 1200feet of elevation.

Drive Sport will have the fastest shifting, so I would leave it there. Also, make sure you have the traction control OFF. Pull up to the line until both sets of yellow staging lights at the top of the tree are lit (prestage and staging lights)... make sure you drive around the water box if it is wet (assuming your G is RWD, you'll just spin the rear tires off the line if they are wet). I lauch mine (Note: mine is Super Charged not NA) with my left foot on the brake pedal and my right foot holding the gas at about 3 - 4K RPM's. Once the last yellow light at the bottom goes out you should be ready for the green light and start lifting your left foot off the brake pedal and gradually pressing down on the gas pedal... You want just a little bit of wheel spin off the line, but not so much that you just light up the rear tires. It's a little tricky to get the perfect lauch, but once you get used to modulating the pedals you should be able to get sub 2.0 second 60ft times. By the time the rear tires have full traction you should have the gas pedal floored and at this point you just let the car do the rest. Keep it floored through the entire run. 1/8 Mile is over pretty quickly, so expect something in the high 8 to 9 second range for a stock G37s with Auto and street tires. It's also best to run with your windows closed and A/C off, although it probably won't make too much of a difference.
Good Luck!

What was the elevation of the track you were at, as that can greatly affect your time & trap speed (i.e. you can't really compare a time slip from a track at/near sea level with a track at 4000 feet). Track conditions also play a huge roll in overall track times. What RPM's did you lauch at? Also, were you able to get any wheel spin on your launch? Reason I ask is it seems you may have bogged a big off the line since your 60' time was only 2.116. If you can take .1 second off your 60' time, then that should correlate to almost .2 seconds at the end of the 1/4 mile. AWD cars can be a little tricky to lauch... you may want to consider driving through the water box (if you aren't already) to get your tires damp so you can generate a little bit of wheel spin off the line and lauch without bogging... Just some ideas...
I figured DS would make a difference, and after 22 passes of racing in whatever I was feeling, it didn't make a damn bit of difference. In fact, my fastest time was when I was in D. Paddle shifting I ran my slowest time. Just leave it in auto. I cant nail shifts in MM like I could in my 05. The rev limiter is much more aggressive.

1200 feet of elevation. Said in my post. I launched at about 2000rpms. I spun a tad on a few runs and then the VDC kicked in and it would bog a second. So i tried a little lower just to kinda go without spin. I had VDC off, but it still would cut a little bit of power.

That's odd that your VDC still kicks in even when turned off. The VDC should be fully defeatable. When I first Super Charged my car I could barely drive it with the VDC on since it would always intervene. So mine's perminently off now and never kicks in. If I launch at 2K RPM's my car just bogs and I get ~2.1 or 2.2 60ft times, so I find that launching at ~3500 seems to produce the best results and sub 2.0 second 60 ft times, although I am running 285 tires, so that might help a little. Hoping to pick up an extra set of rear wheels and some drag radials sometime this Winter so I can break into the 11's.

Ran my car for its 4th and 5th times last night netting a best of 13.799 @102.63 with a 2.139 60 foot. First few times I was launching around 3 but the last runs I went up to 4k slipping it a bunch.
This is lowered on eibach prokit with a topspeed exhaust. I dont know if I can get the 60 foot much lower honestly because I cant get it to hook but its exciting to try (after waiting an hour in between three runs :-P)
Its rough to see autos deep into the 13s stock...hope I dont run across one on the street...up to 65....

2013 g37xs sedan
i have the 2013 sedan, ran it 2 days ago at a ****ty track, was really bumpy. i managed to run a 13.9 at 98.6. ive never cracked 100 mph but i have broken into 13s. im thinking of going to a better track in montreal to see how different my time will be there. im looking to squeeze a 13.8/13.9 at over 100 mph. ill keep you posted.

I went to the track for the first time ever and I only got 3 runs but I feel like I could have gotten a slightly faster time. I will be going to the track again in about 2-3 weeks with mods this time I got 13.7. Future mods Stillen Gen 3 Intake and Fast Intentions Exhaust

Somehow I'd missed this thread.
I never brought my car to the track when it was stock. OEM stock and 600whp require different things. However, having watched a gazillion passes and knowing what I know now, I'm FIRMLY in the camp that the auto transmission is far more suited to the track than the inconsistent 6MT.
Dragtimes.com verifies this. 13.09 @ 106 with a 7AT sedan.
In my case we used the 'lowly' 5AT, but I'm now understanding that's part of the formula for fast with a load-liking boost-building turbo engine.
I'll never expect a better time from a manual. I'm driving a manual Mini Cooper Clubman, and LOVE it now for the business of the task, but if I wanted the quickest car, I'd stomp with an auto. It's also a bit boring. We understand that.
Here's a vid of the quickest G37 in the world, as I write. It's faster than the lighter 370Z with the same powerplant. With a 2.5" exhaust. Some known 'deficits' yet it still performed.
The car is no longer built. This record is up for the taking.
I've always been a fan of the drag strip. It's the bad boy of auto racing.
