Non-Resonated Test Pipe Issue
Non-Resonated Test Pipe Issue
Hi all,
For context, about a year ago, my car started misfiring and I failed to fix it (burnt coil) until it clogged my right catalytic converter. I ordered a replacement set of cats from Amazon and was only able to replace the right side which was fine with me as the left side cat was still working. Despite doing this, the car still idles quite rough, has a little bit less power, and sounds a little deeper but I ignored it and just kept driving (I know I'm stupid). Fast forward to last week, my car starts to feel even more sluggish than it already is and is making a weird ticking noise. I look under my car to find my left side cat glowing red (same symptoms I experience when my first car was clogged)
I figured ordering test pipes would likely solve all my problems. I ordered Speedzone Non-Resonated Test Pipes (my first mistake) and I just got them installed about 3 hours ago. I have a muffler delete to begin with. The car is definetly louder but it has this annoying raspy/throaty tone in the low RPMs. It goes away during high RPMs or when downshifting. Additionally, my car is still idling rough (near 1k) and I still feel like my power is down.
I'm honestly lost at this point, what should my next step from here be? Order resonated test pipes to replace my non-resonated ones?

Your first mistake was/is lack of maintenance lol
Is the car tuned at all?
do you have downstream O2 spacers installed?
Did you or the shop perform an idle air relearn after the test pipes were installed?
still have stock and Y midpipe?
Yes, you should pony up for a better exhaust
no muffler is fine, but get all the resonators

Car is not tuned.
Not sure if I have downstream 02 spacers installed, but I doubt it.
The shop didn't do an idle air relearn and I didn't even think about this. I'll give it a try tomorrow, thanks.
Stock Y-pipe and midpipe.
Resonator is still on as I heard how bad the car sounded with a muffler delete + resonator delete at car meet and opted to not make the same mistake.
Like I mentioned previously, I don't really wanna spend money on this car as I just want to focus on getting my new one. However, I think I will probably get an ISR single-exit and get Berk resonated test pipes.
