Do I need an exhaust/test pipes for power?

Just wondering if It’s worth getting intake + ecutek tune?

I don’t want to get an exhaust and test pipes because they make the car loud - and that’s something I can’t have.

Alternative - are there any test pipe systems that do not make the car too loud, smell, and are reliable?

By definition, a test pipe is literally a straight pipe replacing the cat. Some have resonators, some don't. If you want some middle ground, look into high flow cats.

What are the horsepower increase on high flow cats and can it be used on a stock exhaust?

It doesn't entirely work like that. You might see gains near the top of the curve, and a loss down low. Manufacturers love to give you numbers, right or wrong. In that context, 10hp seems a fair answer.

The best answer is a vague one... match a pair of high-flow cats to your OEM catback and you will experience a noticeable bit of extra grunt, but not a lot. And you will hear a noticeable bit of extra noise, but not a lot.

And yes, you can run high-flow cats with the stock exhaust.

Here is a blog post by Seb that you might like:SZ ECUTek Tuned Nismo 370Z |

You can see what kind of results to expect with just an intake and tune. IIRC the Z exhaust is a little bigger but your results power wise should be fairly close.

If you are already worried about the sound then IMO leave your exhaust alone.

In fact, exhaust (INCLUDING TEST PIPES/ HIGH FLOW CATS/ LONG TUBE HEADERS) is REQUIRED in order to make power on this bad little focka.

My personal opinion, don't even worry about sound. If it's power that you're after, it doesn't matter what others hear as long as you're hauling *** the way you want to.

The only sound I can't live with is drone. That sound literally shakes the matter in your brain loose.
