Help: Exhuast Rattle Fix

Hey everybody I have the 08 G37S coupe and I've had the the great luxury of having that beautiful exhaust rattle. No seriously though, I've read that its possibly a loose heat shield, and i did take my car to the dealership and they stated that the problem resided in the muffler (duh) and to replace by Infiniti they gave me a quote of near $1000...now my question here today is that I was wondering if I could just get an axle back and use that to replace the OEM muffler and would thats solve the problem? I was looking at Megan, Beluga, and Tanabe. If i were to buy any of these would the fix the rattle? I was only looking to spend more than $450-$500 on this otherwise I'd just go with a full catback. So any suggestions would be appreciated...

The heat shield and muffler are on different ends of the exhaust, if the rattle is close to the motor it's more than likely the heat shields. If the mufflers baffles are burned out they may cause a rattle or if you have a hanger that's loose or somewhere along the system where metal on metal contact is occurring that would be something to look for.
If possible I'd get the G lifted up and do some exploring on your own (as long as it's safely lifted that is). I wouldn't spend the $1k on the Infiniti mufflers for sure. The other options you listed are much better.

Second on what blnewt stated. I would not let them take you for $1K. Look for the simple fixes first. Could just be a hangar issue. Get it up on a lift and check it out.

Thank you Lt8Che & Viper630. I saw that TSB but i wasn't 100% sure but i was almost positive it was the muffler. So I'm currently heavily interested in this beluga axle back, but I'm not sure that will cover the problem, but the meagan racing axle back is also an option. Thanks for your input!

Get it up on a lift, grab a rubber mallet and bang around the exhaust and listen for rattles. but not so hard you damage anything. Simplest way to figure out what's causing the rattle.
