Here's what a prototype R2c filter looks like... Running this in my '04 Maxima now... They need to tweak the heat shield, and I need to organize things in there a bit... otherwise, it's awesome. Way better than the Fujita "CAI" that stuck down into the wheel well. What a POS that was.
One thing I just experienced and someone else complained about this as well, my heat shield rubber gasket did seperate from the shields. They litterally just glued it on and with enough heat they will seperate, its just a matter of time. I think they look better without and will eventually look for some foam with a 3/8ths grove to put on it so there's something more then glue holding them on and foam will handle the corners better as well.
I did email Ed about the glue seperating from heat, also said I'd just fix it myself though. His solution would probably just be to send another set which to me isn't really going to be a fix.
can't really fix old ones, he could only send a new ones that has a fix already....like better adhesive or something, no point in returning an old one...shipping is worth more than the heat shield itself most probably.
Heard from Ed, he said they redesigned the seals and will be sending the new set.
Stand up company, here is Ed's reply to me today via email concerning the passenger side hose fitment on the inlet halfway down the intake and other concerns:
I understand your concern. You will receive hose extensions and a hose fitting for each side that will make this connection much easier. I have installed dozens of these systems and it’s bizarre because I’ve had no real issue with the small crankcase hoses, but it certainly must be a concern in some cases.
Please ask the owner that had to buy the hose connector to contact me.
The heat shield seal issue will be resolved. The manufacturer of the seal produces it in two sections and then adhesive is applied to join the two. When stressed, the adhesive is failing in some cases. We will send new heat shield seals as soon as the new design arrives.
The bottom line is everyone will receive what they need to install the systems correctly and we’ll include the new components and updated instructions with each subsequent kit.
