My car is there now, and this is what they found, as anticipated:
Update after several days of driving around Maryland with new galley gaskets installed by Hill's Garage: the pinging is gone and the engine now runs perfectly at 135k miles.

Reason: update to report problem resolved
Cone on, dude. You don't need to spam multiple threads with the same question. And do some homework. Namely, get the car off the ground and check for rattling exhaust heat shields, by far the most common cause of rattling on our cars.
Hey guys. So, I've ruled out everything that could rattle, and believe there could be a gasket issue. While I'm in the process of locating a mechanic for this, even after it's replaced, is there a new gasket model that is "fixing" this issue long term, or do we have to look out for it every 40k or so? My car only has about 60k on it, and ws once troubleshot for a "bad oil pressure sensor" which it was throwing codes for, but was "fixed" with a replacement of that sensor. However, I believe I have "the death rattle" now.
Edit: Just ordered it. Better to have it and eliminate another day in the shop from shipping delays. Now I just need to find a good mechanic in NJ....
My pinging started at 86k miles at it took Infiniti until I had 106k miles to figure out what the issue was and repaired under warranty. This was early when the problem was not well known. I just crossed 180k miles and problem has not returned.

Yes had factory warranty till 100k. Certainly recouped that warranty cost. Since techs even drove with car on diagnostics trying to find pinging before warranty expired was easy case with Infiniti Consumer Affairs to have it covered.
Update: So, I'm sending her in for an eval with a random mechanic. I plan to tell him what I think it is, though the car isn't throwing any codes other than low oil pressure. I expect them to come back with "you need a new oil pump" or "we'll replace your oil pressure sensor again", I will probably move forward with asking them to replace the galley gasket. My question is:
With only 60k miles on this POS, is there anything else I should have them replace while they have it apart? I was thinking water pump, but 60k...hmmm....will newer be better?
Folks,
I still have the rattle, but is seems to be under hard acceleration when the car squats. I know I have a broken diff bushing, I know I have a bad bearing on rear passenger side. But the rattle when the weather got cold here in South FLorida (LOL I know), were my coils, I swapped with an ebay oem used set and it got better, but did not go away. Replaced with all new coils (NGK from Summit Racing less than 60 each), no engine rattling when cold, but I do still sense a different one under hard acceleration. If you have bad coils you will also notice bad mileage, though you wont see any codes. I will check all my heat shields and see if exhaust is rubbing any where and post back.

did you have to buy the parts or did the shop get them? I live in Maryland and want to fix my 10 g37x as well with the same rattle noise
Quick update. It turns out the low oil pressure code was old, just never cleared. It hasn't returned. That mechanic did not find any evidence of the galley gasket going bad, but suggested I get a code update as it was definitely knocking an pinging. So, I brought it to Infiniti, they heard the noise, said there's nothing they can do about it. Suggested I run it hard on the highway after they do the code update.
No change, though I like the new pedal response I'm getting since the code update.
Unfortunately, there is no way to be cautiously optimistic in this case:

My 2010 G37xS exhibited the same symptoms and reported the same codes, so I limped it over to my local Infiniti specialist fearing the worst. Here is the report:
LABOR: (1 HOUR)
SCAN ECM FOR CODES: P0021, P0524, LOW OIL PRESSURE AND BANK #2 TIMING CONTROL SOLENOID FAULT
CAR IS IN FAILSAFE MODE. MONITOR SOLENOIDS FOR FAULTS
REPLACE BANK #2 SOLENOID, CLEAR CODES, AND MONITOR
PARTS:
HITACHI VTS0003 VALVE TIMING SOLENOID
They found erratic readings from the VVT solenoid, which is consistent with this post. It's back to running like it should. YMMV, but it seems worth checking before making assumptions and taking the plunge!

I decided to have a local specialty shop replace the galley gaskets for about $1300 as described here; I was not charged the amount estimated to drop the oil pan for inspection as an oil analysis thankfully reflected no bearing damage, but another car in the shop was not so lucky and may need a new engine. The gasket had failed, the new one won't, the pinging is gone, and the engine now runs perfectly. Low oil pressure is bad news, folks, so get it checked out!
