Angry Can't turn on DS mode

Hi everyone,
I'm just trying to figure out whether I'm challenged mentally or there is something wrong with my car.
I have an '08 G37 coupe auto, whenever I switch the gear lever from "D" to the left, my car does not enter the DS mode. It did it a few times, then it turned off by itself.
Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with my car?
Any info much appreciated.

I don't have any warranty on the car, I got it from an auction...

Some solenoid (acts like a sensor) under your level is gone bad, very simple fix. Had mine done under warranty

It's still unacceptable, especially for those out of warranty.. Seems like this solenoid is something that goes out over time. Sucks!

I'm going through the same thing on my '07 right now. The complete shifter assembly will be around $300. There are no serviceable parts on the shifter assembly itself so this appears to be the only option. From what I've read so far, this appears to be very common.

I just happen to be looking through the forums to see if anyone has replaced the shifter assembly on their own.
